Would love you to do a National Resonator. I know you've done them before but always with a slide. There's a bunch of great songs you could do... Lola, Romeo & Juliet etc.

I’ve got a ‘47 with the early logo just like Bob Dylan’s and it’s a cannon. Pity that it was refinished at some point.

Looking on their site (have I commented this before?), I can't believe how affordable some of these J45/50's are. FTF is becoming one of my favourite GotD episodes, especially because Mark's playing is occasionally so sublime. Quick question, do the Gibsons of this era not need neck resets with the same frequency as equivalently aged Martins?

Does anyone know at what year did Gibson replace the J-50's tear drop pick guard to the big one?
@drewc.43334 жыл бұрын
Could anyone tell me what the production year of James Taylor’s Gibson J-50 was? I have reason to believe that it might be a 1956 or ‘62, but can’t be sure because it had no pickguard, but did have the block Gibson lettering on the headstock.

Hey I have a question if I send pictures of my Gibson could you tell me what model and about how much its worth? It was my dads guitar and he handed it down to me. I've played sense I was 7 and now in my late 40's I love this old guitar. I think its a "J" series Gibson. You can message me through KZbin and I can send photos through email. Thanks.

I have 66 J-50 after 2 years James Taylor 64 J-50. Almost same sounds this guys one. So balance and not overtone sounds. If You don't like Gibson typical sound, but you like this one.
@emergencyian51986 жыл бұрын
I believe JT's is a 1956 (and it never had a pickguard applied. That was the transitional year for J50 and J45 pickguards), though he bought it used in 1964, when his mother allowed him to trade in his cello. He was still attending the Milton Academy. She told him that he could trade in the cello but to make sure that he got a good guitar. He did well.

I'm a fan of J-50's, but I tend to like 1954 and up when they changed the bracing. I'm not a fan of 40's J-50's. They are thin. They're still amazing, I just like the later models more. They are thumpier.

Do a vintage Yamaha SG whenever you come across one worthy enough for GOTD., preferably a 2000 or 3000 model. Sick guitars! not a whole lot of people know about them. they call em SG KILLERS for a reason!
