I have had good luck with Blue Devil oil stop leak. Works great in the gerling shocks.

there are two known rebuilders of shocks (armstrong and girling) for the TD. and refilling the oil without a rebuild is folly, as suspected.

JJZBULLITT109 Bob, it's seems that you have a pretty good lay of the land with the dampers. It looks to me that someone at some point did that peening of the shaft. None of mine were like that, the shocks are the same front and rear. It's pretty easy to pull the plug and push out the shaft, no need to separate the splines. The plug is 1-1/8" and the seal is CR 8637, unlike the original which was 1/2" wide, these are 1/4" so you use 2. It's no big deal and they don't leak after. Here's a link to the article I referenced when I did mine. www.mg-tabc.org/library/luvax.htm. PS don't waste your time or money on the rubber bushings for the links, they are a real hassle to install and the rubber is terrible quality. I pulled mine after I installed them and opted for machining out nylon rod.
