This is one of the VERY few cartoons that makes me cry! :( Because in real life dogs can represent the emotion of it's master, and that's all that we see in this episode. The puppy doesn't care about the contest, he just want to see his master happy and he can't be happy unless his master is happy. That is so sad.

This cartoon was released in 1948 and it was the last Little Lulu cartoon for Paramount's Famous Studios. This was at the time, Paramount sued the creator Marjorie Henderson Buell (aka Marge) of the Saturday Evening Post for not getting the rights to the series. After that, they created Little Audrey and began a series of cartoons after the Little Lulu series ended. I guess Little Audrey was better than Little Lulu after the whole royalties scandal over the studio.

Little Lulu returned to Paramount as a Noveltoon for a few more episodes in the early 1960's.

Geez, the judge could've been nicer about not letting the boy's dog into the show. Some adults can be jerks. XP

Yes, especially back then. Children were to be seen and not heard.

If you are going by screen credits alone, you could be misled. Jack Ward's leaving had little to do with that.

A nice 'contrast and compare' between this and "Hulaba-Lulu", the second cartoon in the series. Both have the same story structure, but this cartoon does a better job of making the adult male authority figure a jerk from the get-go, and that makes the short similar to the Jones-Maltese Bugs Bunnies, where one mean action at the start of the cartoon justifies everything that happens because of Lulu to the big guy for the rest of the picture.

Kevin, could you send me these files of Lulu episodes? I have been looking for it so I can save them to show to my kid when he comes of age, the ones in your channel are by far the ones with beest quality. Can you for example, upload the files to Mega.nz and share the link for me to download it? Thanks a lot in advance!
