I thought you might rough out the braze while you were still in the lathe to reduce the interrupted cut before using the kwik way. Not a critique. Nice witness marks you left on bottom of cylinder. will finish video now.

I'm constantly amazed by the work that you take in. Most would have considered that cylinder little more than a doorstop. Couple of questions though, how are the wear characteristics of the brazed areas compared to the parent cast iron, and is the heat used in brazing likely to cause excessive out of round? Basically is this just a heroic effort at saving an original numbers matching piece, or would this be considered a "normal" repair suitable for regular usage?

not for using in a bike. just testing some brazing rod and making a tool for mock-up down the road. tatro

It's not work properly cause some little dots of welding of bras so piston rings may be give space to oil over all nice work

who says replacement parts are any good. old stock parts are far better than most of the junk they make now. yes it is a numbers deal and being a oem part really does matter to collectors and people in the know. how can you own a real harley when all the parts in it are made in china or taiwan. tatro

What's the benefit of running a cylinder in a boring bar, as opposed to on the Mill? is it just a matter of it being easier to hold in that clamp as opposed to on the mill table?

a cylinder boring bar is made to do one thing only, bore cylinders. it is a very accurate and rigid machine that does its job very well. a vertical knee milling machine is a good universal machine that does alot of things good. being a jack of all trades it doesn't do any one thing very well. tatro
