The lack of model specific images from the brochure prevented proper identification during the price and production segment, other images were used in this case.
A brief look at some vintage dealer brochures of the 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 car lineup. We take a look at the different trim levels and discuss the pricing of the various models and compare them to what the "Todays" pricing would be.
Kick back and enjoy a walk down memory lane with us. If you were lucky enough to visit a dealership, you may remember the brochures you could flip through of the models available for that particular year. Today, we're bringing the brochure to you.
We hope you enjoy this video, we have fun producing them for you. We will continue to make more content of some of the greatest American cars and trucks ever produced, so check back frequently to see more.

I loved the video. It brings back memories of my 1949 oldsmobile 88 that I bought in 1980. I wish I still had it. Well wait a minute, I still do have it 43 years later. It has hit 50,000 miles now and I will die with it as I love this car!!😊

Another great video. Thank you. My Father had a 1955 Olds Holiday coupe. We went on a lot of road trips in that car. Traded in on a 1963 Grand Prix.

Hi Char, very accurate video! Right after WW II, Oldsmobile opened a brand new Oldsmobile engine assembly plant to produce the Oldsmobile "Rocket V8." It was the most advanced and efficient engine plant at that time, including 100% controlled environment, heat, AC, ventilation, no metal dust, no oil and/or metal shavings on the floor, by means of the worker(s) stood and walked on steel grates with moving conveyor belts under them for all waste metal shavings to be recycled (at location) for the very first time at any engine plant. In about 1950, MotorTrend magazine road tested all the cars you could buy equipped with a full automatic transmission, and MotorTrend magazine reported, that the Oldsmobile Rocket V8 Hydramatic, was the only automatic transmission equipped car that would achieve a speed just over 100 MPH. So in the mean time, people flocked to the their nearest Oldsmobile dealer to pay full price for a Oldsmobile Rocket V8 Hydramatic. After that, the Oldsmobile Rocket emblem became a status symbol for years. Please reply. Dave...

Oldsmobile always was a bit more futuristic, classier with power to match.
