To Thomas O'Shields. You SHOULD mean "good luck KEEPING it!" Anybody who knows his car so well should DEFINATELY KEEP it! It was MADE for him!
@nygelmiller52932 жыл бұрын
1950's Mercedes-Benzes also had such pleasant interiors! The seats , like on this, were more like indoor FURNITURE, and like on this, the same type of "living room" ornamental woodwork!

If you like and maintain your car so well, you SHOULD get it repainted, and keep it! You may regret it, otherwise! You won't get another chance! Here in ENGLAND , regarding older radios, we can get them updated internally, to pick up present day stations as well as the original ones! Greetings from London!

Thanks Nigel actually if I do keep it I will get it repainted and I also have a rebuilt original am radio for it that still picks up stations. Glad you guys in London like my car. I agree that I do not want to regret anything about keeping this car on the road, it is a solid survivor and I want to keep it going.

I am the same age as this car. My first car was a ‘49 Plymouth 4 Door. I paid $65 for it in 1959, at which time it had 65,000 miles on it. Mine was dark blue. In March 1960 I drove it from New Jersey to Florida, across the South and Southwest to San Diego. Then up to Los Angeles and back across the country to New Jersey.

Those flat head six engines last forever, glad my car could bring back some good memories. Thank you for your comment, I enjoyed it very much.

The 1949 Plymouth , you have is a two dr. sedan, not a club coupe. The only coupe was offered was a one seater businessman's coupe with extra large trunk. The top was totally different, again a one seater. The coupe was made to 1951 then was dropped in favor of the Suburban two and four dr. station wagons. The reason, more room for salesmen and other business type applications. I like your 1949 sedan very clean and nice sedan. Kevin Phoenix

Thank you, the dealer brochure in the glove box says it is 1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe 2 Door Club Coupe P-18 model, but thanks for the info, glad you liked it.

@@michaelmurray6166 It is a club couple. Plymouth did not use the term 2 door sedan in 49.

W.P Chrysler liked his cars to have enough headroom to wear a fedora, which were in fashion at the time, maybe not a bad idea even today !
@bill904052 жыл бұрын
Actually it was KT Keller who required the headroom. WPC died in 1940.
