Great video and tips. I noticed you were using most of the old paint as a primer. Could you have taken the fender down to bare metal? What is the theory? My fenders have more surface rust than paint.

Thanks Kevin, Yes it is always best to remove all the old paint down to white metal and start from scratch. Going that route takes 3 times longer and costs about 3 times the money. Not everyone is willing or able to go down that path so a "repaint" was the option chosen here. In this case this truck had several paint jobs on it that were sound for the most part so I used them as a blocking medium to get started. In your case you do need to get all the paint and rust removed, straighten the sheetmetal, do any filling needed and then spray with an epoxy primer or suitable bare metal sealer. Then you can use a polyester primer as your blocking medium. Let me know if you have any other questions. Mark
