Here's the story behind "Sprite Boy", the name of the pixie in Coke commercials of the 40's and early '50's: Coca-Cola’s Sprite Boy During the ’40s and ’50s, The Coca-Cola Company used a lively little character in its advertising. Sprite Boy was created by the company’s staff artist, Haddon Sundblom. Sprite Boy was an elf and first appeared in a 1942 ad that introduced the name “Coke”. The purpose of the ad was to help consumers identify the Coke with their familiar, favorite Coca-Cola.

His name is the Sprite Boy. Originally drawn by Disney he was deemed too fancy and another artist came up with this look

This "Sprite Boy" image is something that even today is seen. There was a sheet metal building down the street from us that use to be a grocery store. On the side was painted a Coke Sprite Boy! The image was painted a long time ago because it was very faided. We even have a building in the neighboring county that has it painted on the wall of the historic downtown area. I always found the Sprite Boy very interesting to watch and look at. I even have a vintage temometer with his image on it.

I was born in 1951. Coca Cola was always part of my life. I don’t know what year SPRITE came along, and I didn’t notice the little ‘elf guy’ with the bottle cap hat. But it was years before I ever heard/read his name. So, finally, we knew where ‘Sprite’ came from for a name of a drink.

"Sprite" became Coke's mascot in the early '40s; I'd say this ad is from around 1952.
@yassinsover Жыл бұрын
Actually, it's from 1958

Also, it seems a little off for 1952, definently 1958, also the music and animation is also late 50s too

In Texas, we get Mexican Coca-Cola which is as close to the unique taste of vintage Coke in 6.5 ounce bottles as you can get without a flux capacitor.
