I remember most of this, if not all of this. I remember that white pagoda at the Tiger Balm Garden. It was closed to the public after so many people had committed suicide by jumping off of it.

1950 is the year when we witnessed millions of refugees fleeing from communist dictatorship in Mao's Red China to Hong Kong. This also set the background for the movie Love Is a Many Splendour Thing starring William Holden and Jennifer Jones in 1955.
I was born in this time and do witness the poor living in scatter huts and got water in the well Poor family sent their children to do the under age hard work in order to help the finance of poor family.

@ Dargo Yuen . I ‘d witnessed those very poor peoples living in Ho Man Tin , just near the Tang King Po ( Roman Catholic ) Technical School that I was in . Need to go over the hill behind that school and the King George V School to see that . Right behind the King George V ‘s were some houses for the British HK government employees , and down the hill at a distance were all the huts . I still remember the movie , The Suzy Wong’s world , by William Holden and Nancy Kwan . Reflecting those days of the poor . 🙏.
