Entered the Annexe gates on Oct. 12th. 1948. Best thing I have ever done. Still get nostalgic at 92!

I joined Ganges in Feb 55 at the tender age of exactly 15 and 4 months. Left 18 months later as a Junior Signalman. I loved every minute of it. Went back as an instructor in 1964. Loved that too. Best things I ever did. Bit of a different story now.

These were the days when the Royal Navy was the second largest Navy in the world, and most modern. Today it is a mere shadow of its former self.

Must be a very, very late 1950's recruitment film, it shows a County class destroyer firing missiles and the first of those wasn't commissioned until 1960.

Ahh, I'm just not feeling it, the way other recruitment ads do! A little dramatic background music probably would've resulted in more recruits signing up.

It's not exactly exciting, is it? The clipped 1960s RP accent doesn't help, either. "The pay is good". Well, I should hope so!

Good point. All the ones I used were right handed. In fact we were encouraged always to use our right hands, even if your were left handed. The American equivalent has a handle on both sides. Happy days.
