So good to know that there are people out there who are saving these pieces of history from being cut up for scrap. Good stuff dude.

Wish I had one of those in my backyard for sure!

That's awesome, what a cute little dragline. My friend has a 10b pullshovel, with a unique bottom dumping trip bucket. These little machines are nice for collecting, easy to haul around and show.

Nice work, thanks for the walk around. Looks like you already have a good start on fixing her up.

Thanks. This one has been a lot of work, but very rewarding when you look back after completing each task.

The steering crank is at the top of the chain. It is connected to a set of clutch disc and a band brake on each side. Turning the crank will disconnect the clutch and then apply the brake, allowing you to steer the machine while propelling. This is something you cannot do on many other BE machines, including the 22B.

It has a Buda(later bought by Allis Chalmers) in-line 6 cylinder gas engine. With a straight pipe.

I will be making an instructional video on the 10B and the 22B in the next couple of weeks, now that I've had a couple requests.

The brass lever on the control panel is the throttle. Sometime in the next couple weeks, I"ll be doing instructional video's on both the 10B and 22B.

I meant to have more video with the machine running, but somehow cut it short. This 10B is # 88584, my '37 10B is # 12482. If you know any part sources for these machines, or Buda or Hercules engines, let me know. I hope to keep slowly adding videos of these machines as time goes by. JAC

Could do another video on this machine explaining the start up process and all of the controls in the cab please???

Depending on year (later models were heavier), type of boom, and counterweight, the 10B's weighed between 8 and 10 tons. The model number of the BE machines does not neccessarily indicate its weight, although on the smaller machines such as this, it was often close.

Would be great to see video of your friends' 10B. I suspect the bottom dumping bucket to be extremely rare.

They were tougher back then for sure, and they had no choice but to be tough.

they really thought of the operators safety & comfort huh?? LOL!, after 4 hours of running this thing Id be deaf and have a destroyed back with no back rest on the seat and nothing but solid steel to sit on!, and the guys hand is about 8 inches away from getting in those gears and cables, , holy crap!

Yeah, those old-timers were as tough as these machines. Hydraulic seats, air conditioning and quiet cabs weren't even a dream when these were built.
