I love how these solidly built cars from this era still had effortless style and character, and this ‘51 Kaiser is a fine example of that.
@bdpopeye5 жыл бұрын
Beautiful? YES! Solidly built? Oh no. Only luxury cars. Chrysler products rattled and rusted from the factory. Honestly many of the cars from the 40s, 50s & 60s rusted and rattled. They had poor build quality. People who restmod these cars can tell you that. I love orginal survivors. I'm sure most orginal survivors lived a pampered life. Just my opinion.

I’ve never seen a car like this one! Divided windshield, large visor, unique hood ornament, and those trunk hinges resembled daggers! Like that you pointed out the refrigerator looking door handles! Beautiful color too! Thanks for the upload, enjoying all your videos! 👍😃

A lot of interesting little details on this one. It's a unique car that we don't see often anymore. Thanks for having a look Leta, I appreciate it!

When I was a little boy back in the '50s, I'm 66, I thought the few Kaisers-Fraziers I saw were ugly. really. But on a refreshed look they have moved up to OK in my book. I've not seen one of these in many years. Thanks for posting Jeff!

What a great looking car, I never saw a Kaiser that I can remember except a Henry J, so really enjoyed looking at this one. I like how you point out the extra touches on a car. Thanks my friend.

I can't understand how low the price is for this vehicle. It's absolutely gorgeous, almost show quality and unless the underside is badly rusted, this is a bargain!
@RamblinAround5 жыл бұрын
It does seem like a bargain for what it is. It looked to be very solid to me. Kaiser's aren't very well known anymore, so maybe that effects the value a bit.
@bradgaston36412 жыл бұрын
Beautiful model. A bit overpriced and would be much better with an overdrive. These cars have amazing styling and safety features; but weak motors.

These cars were build in the Netherlands also, at the nekaf factorie in Rotterdam. They were also used as taxi in the fifties. The name of these model was kaiser rotterdam deluxe.
@shicoff13983 жыл бұрын
in the 1940's and 1950's many taxi cabs used the same motor which was the Continental Flathead 6, also used by Frazier, it was a good tough motor and with an Automatic it was GM Hydramatic, a strong transmission. later yellow and Checker marathon cabs used the Chevy six, as Continental stopped making motors , that good old Flathead 6 was called the "Continental Red Seal motor" I recall seeing lots of Kaiser cars as a kid in the late 1940's and 1950's but not as many as GM or Ford and Chrysler. Studebaker and Hudson made their own motors as independent car companies, and both had good motors, especially the Hudson six, a big flathead 6 with two carbs was a factory option, early 1950's .

Someone sank a lot of money into that old beauty! A guy not far from me had a 51 Manhattan completely restored, it was a beauty.
@reelreeler87785 жыл бұрын
The Kaiser power train should be very dependable with the Continental flathead six and the GM Hydramatic.
@roygunter32445 жыл бұрын
I grew up in the a time when there were still some Kaisers and Fraziers on the road and a Frazier Manhattan with the windshield with the same vee in the middle of it as the rear window on this one. I can't remember ever seeing a two door except a Henry J and only one of those that was running. I knew that the Hydramatic was used in several different automobiles in the late 40s and early 50s that were not GM cars.

This is the first two door of this body style that I've seen. Thanks for taking a look, I appreciate it!

Had this same car in 1955 . It spun main bearing 6 mo after i bought it so i pulled engine and put in olds rocket 88 engine and left in borg warner trans with overdrive and converted it to a floor shift with cad lasalle. Forks.

We had two '51 4 door Kaiser Deluxes, both bought used. The first was owned by a cousin who had to sell because he was building a home. I ruined the engine by over reving it in high school. We then bought one from someone near us and it had been exhibited at the New York Auto Show when it was first introduced. The owner was a professional car restorer who didn't like radios in his cars. So he removed it and put a second and third glove box where the radio and the speaker used to be. They were great cars with awful steel bodies. The big three (GM, Ford and Chrysler) made sure that Kaiser couldn't get steel. After the company's demise, Kaiser began Kaiser Steel.

The only flaw I saw was the spot on the hood. I can't decide if it's a rust spot, or bird droppings.

Seatbelts on a '51? That has to be an extremely rare option, or else installed when they re-did the interior.

Didn't Kaiser get swallowed up in the acquisition that eventually became American Motors?
@williamwintemberg5 жыл бұрын
If memory serves me, I think yes.
@RamblinAround5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you're right about that. It was Kaiser, then they changed their name to Kaiser Jeep, and then ultimately they were sold to American Motors.

They are almost worthless compared to gm products of the time! Just because they have the wrong Script on the hood! I wonder if they were even better built
