Thanks for the video! I took a look at that radio 6 months ago while buying old computers on Kijiji. Glad to see it's being fixed up!

Nice radio, but just as a tip, the capacitors you are referring to as "domino capacitors" are actually mica capacitors and are fairly reliable and I do suggest just leaving them in but if you have any problems or you just don't trust them ( or if them are made by a company called Mica Mold, you need to replace those for sure), then replace them with new mica capacitors, good luck on the repairing :)

They are actually paper caps. Mica and paper were both manufactured in those packages. The mica ones have a white dot in the colour code to indicate that they are mica. Mine do not have such a marking, so I suspect them to be paper. I'm replacing them with film, which are very temperature stable, so it should be fine.

You have a very good point, but I have seen mica capacitors that look like that and don't have the white dot in the color code (I once took apart one to find out and it did seem to be mica) but it is a good idea to replace them anyways just in case they are paper capacitors.

I'm not surprised to hear that some manufacturers didn't adhere to the marking standards. Good to know. Maybe I'll cut one open once I'm done just to see.

@@TheUbuntuGuy they probably are mica, especially if they're connected to /part of a tuned circuit, such as oscillator coupling, if so, they're most likely ok, assume they are unless you have problems and they test bad

The writing near the bottom of the label attached to the bottom of the radio is upside down with respect to the print.
