I ran Pennzoil and the same Fram oil filter. After watching someone cut open the Fram filter and a Wicks filter . The Fram had less filter material in the container than the Wicks. There are numerous mechanics that will tell you not to use Fram and I stopped using them.

Not long ago manufacturers started telling people to change the oil at 10,000 miles. This was due to the new synthetics. However, I do it at 5,000 miles due to possible sludge buildup in the engine if changed at 10K. In my case the oil filter is not really significant because of my change frequency. Except for the 1952 truck, I change that at 1K because it has no oil filter.

I found that if you have an oil filter that sits sideways to never use a cheap Fram as they have junk valve to control drain- back. My truck it sits sideways so I always use Motorcraft or similar for no more dry starts.

I received some parts for the truck yesterday, like the springs and throttle cable. Now I have to figure out how it goes in. Lol. I think we are getting close!

Gracias Angel. It has the same wood bed as I bough it back in 1999. Maybe some day I will refinish it so it looks shinier. But for now, it still looks great.

Not sure about the vlogs but I will be spending most of my time visiting family when I do go and spending time with them. Family now is most important. But I currently have no plans.

Having that drain there would mean part on the threads were cut away to make a path for the oil to drain.

@@roderickmarruffo7600 I can't. This is not an automatic transmission with an oil pan. This is a manual 3-speed Saginaw. I would have to pull out the entire transmission and take it apart.

Check the hole depth. Not complicated.

Yes, I realized it after the job was completed. One way would be to insert a long screwdriver all the way in until it bottomed out. How would you do it?

@@oviduran zip tie, screwdriver, anything that would fit. If it is an open hole, then you would have to "feel" where the threads ended, but normally those bolts would all be the same length. I do like that truck. My uncle and I would go around and find old farm trucks stashed in pole barns or sitting out and buy them, and basically fix them back to running, then sell or trade. The coolest was a '59 GMC with an original Pontiac engine in it. I think it was a 389.

@@968porsche9 Thanks, those are great tips. This truck I've had for 25 years but not driven in 20 years due to military deployments and other issues. It was a retirement project and now is the time to get it running again. I like the idea of you going around with your uncle and buying old trucks, fixing, and selling/trading. One great way to put these old trucks back on the road again.
