I'm 110% bassist only. I also collect basses. But, who buys a Tele, or ANY guitar for that matter, and doesn't touch it? Amazing. I could just sit for HOURS, UPON HOURS, and listen to vintage guitar stories. How they were found, bought, sold, etc. Somebody needs to do a documentary on vintage guitar acquisitions.

Wowza! Mine is at the other end of the scale: played in sweaty bars for decades by its original owner. It's been refin'd and even the refin is heavily worn. Massive fretboard staining & darkening. But it's a gem of a player. Think I'd be afraid to take this one out of the house!

Ahh that clean shiny bakelite guard. Surpassing in features and condition and desirability, one of if not the best example in the world hence rarity. So a surpassing price. 125k easy - LOL no actually I just one-upped the price I have no idea, they can sit on it and watch it go up till someone offers a Godfather.

Wired it out of phase for the neck pickup to make it brighter sounding maybe or do the blend tone knob with the tone bypass like Billy Gibbon's 1950 broadcaster tele
@lars4738

Yeah, position 3 (neck w/dual capacitor) was used a make-shift 'bass guitar' sound. Sounds like you could also play some Jazz in that position as well.

That instrument appears to have been played very little. Sadly, like Nat King Cole's Mona Lisa, it will probably remain a "cold and lonely, lovely work of art". Nothing but an investment. The reason being the wiring. It is, no doubt, super expensive but rewiring the pickups might jeopardize its monetary value. I have a '52 reissue, which I bought new, that I like a lot. I wanted to give the original wiring a chance but, after about a month, I went with the more modern configuration. The front switch position seemed redundant because you could get the same sound rolling off the highs in the middle position.
