In this video, I finish stripping the cab. Build a bunch of nonsense to help lift the cab on to a cart that probably will fall apart me and then I pull the engine and make a mess everywhere.
So it’s business as usual!
As always thank you for the support!

I wanted to say thank you for sharing your cab cradle design. I built one myself and it worked beautifully.

Again, great video!! My biggest recommendation in any restoration is take lots of photos and measurements. Also, tag and bag all your parts and make an inventory sheet. I know that as for Chevy engines go, the Powerglide engines are not recommended for use. That is what I hear from many people. Too many internal small changes specific to the Powerglide transmission I think. There are seal and shim kits for the drive line ball joints plus these old trucks always leak some fluids. I like your lifting rig you made. I would reinforce your cab dolly. I see the cross 2 x 4's bending. OK, on to the next video.....

I appreciate the recommendations! Definitely organization will help with any build, esp with all the parts that come with it. GMC didn’t make any changes to their engines when putting a Hydra-Matic trans behind it but I won’t be using the original engine. I’ll be putting a new one in soon!

Is that a shop hoist or engine hoist? The engine hoist has more reach I believe. I have a shop hoist

It’s an engine hoist but if I’m being honest I definitely didn’t know there was a difference

I have a 1948 Chevy truck I would put a Chevy 350 small block. That would give your truck more careicktor

350s are sweet but the GMC 302 is going to be a good running for this old rig
