YUP...same Continental flat head 85 hp six cylinder engine often employed in many fork lifts, powered lawnmowers, and a few select vacuum cleaners. My first car was a Kaiser, had three of them and then located a super rare 54 two-door sedan...only 50 made, but with NO engine. With a lot of effort, including tossing the steering box and installing a 58 Pontiac one. (Which I had to shorten 6") I then tossed the enemic fork lift engine and installed a 58 Pontiac 370 cu in.....drove that car all over the western USA and always prooved to be an 'attention grabber' ....especially when I'd run off and leave someone. One day, while in Oregon, at a remote RR crossing, traffic had stopped and backed up.....some old fart (14 years younger than I currently am) failed to notice the stopped traffic at the RR cossing and slammed into me at speed. Fortunately none of us were hurt, (NO seat belts then either) and by pulling out the left rear fender, I was able to drive it the 800 miles back home, but it had been so badly knocked out of alignment, I ground off a set of brand new tires in the process. It was then I decided if I were going to install Pontiac engines in whatever I drove, might as well drive one.....and still do....an 88 Pontiac Fiero.....V6 5 speed. While on the subject......NEVER bought a new car in my life....as my ex-wife's uncle often said...."Let someone else take the beating!".....referring to the huge drop in value immeditely after it being driven off the lot. New motorcycles....well, that's another story, but always paid cash. BHE
