The 1954 Rugby League Lions arrived in Australia in a confident mood after regaining the Ashes in a 2-1 series win in England in 1952/53. (This was the first team to fly across the world rather than sail)
The Australian team was also confident of winning on home soil, led by captain Clive Churchill and Vice Captain Duncan Hall.
Australians were shrugging off the effects of the Second World War and Rugby League was booming in this country.
Both teams were chock full of future 'Hall of Famers' and the series lived up to expectations.
