This 1955 Chevrolet pickup rouses within me a sentimental longing for the past . If it weren't for you, Scottie, many of us would not have the opportunity to see and enjoy the wide range of high quality vehicles that your videos afford us. Thank you, brother!

Cool...you can buy one done cheaper than redoing one your self...the history of this truck is why the own was willing to spend the money...I don't know the market on 55 Chevy picks ups.....but my guess is around 20k....of course this one wins shows...so it won't be as documented as this one....but that should not matter to a 22yr old that is going to drive it....glad you enjoyed the video...I appreciate your support of my channel!!

I actually replaced the engine in this truck. The original engine was a 216 i think and had a rod knocking , I found a 235 or a 292 , 6 cylinder, really caint remember whitch " that i pulled out of a dual wheel 54 Chevy flatbed . I use to work for Randy's dad back in the late 90s ... I remember the truck and the story that goes along with it . Ronnie Sellers.

1955 was the first year for a V-8 in Chevy pickups it was a 265 cubic inch same size as their cars. Ford offered a V-8 in 1954 so Chevy needed one to compete with it. My 1957 Chevy pickup was the first year for their 283 cubic inch, the six had plenty of power as long as you did not need to tow heavy loads at highway speeds. Chevy had some of the best 6 & V-8's engines - power wise - offered back. I don't recall a straight 8 being offered by Chevy or Ford they were outdated by 1954 on up. Cheers

My dad had a Series 2 1955 Pick Up, 235 straight 6, 4 speed Hydramatic, big window(I believe it was called a "camper special" for better visibility when a camper was installed in the bed). bought it in 1968(when I was 3) and sold after I burnt the cylinder head gasket in 1988 for $250. :(

Ok minor little detail that's been bothering me. Was the step in the door originally painted that light Marble Gray color or the darker Charcoal Grey that's used on this particular truck? I've seen it done both ways, but I'd expect it to be Marble Gray just because that'd be much easier to do it all one color on the assembly line. I'm working on a '56 Truck of my own and I'm wanted to know if anybody knows what it was originally.

I have a 55, 3100 and it has a different hood than yours but I also have a 56, 3100 that is the same as this one. What determined the different hood style ? Or is it not the original hood that came with it. It has the two raised ribs.

Hi, This is Grant with Cleveland Collision Center. We are doing a restoration identical to your 55' Chevy Truck. Where did you find the paint codes for the Gypsy Red and the India Ivory? We can't find it due to our paint station being for late model cars. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Grant

My Granddad's '56 3100 has a starter button on the floor. Was it an option on the pickups to have a key start? Also the truck came with one brake light and no turn signals. Some time after he purchased the truck he had to take it back to the dealership to have a second brake light installed and a turn signal kit. Not sure when, but Mom said that Pennsylvania changed their motor vehicle laws.
