After trying to align the fenders, cab and frame. I am going over that I had to do to get the cab aligned so things started to fit.

All panels were hand built, and hand installed they never had good gaps even when new, look at any unrestored old truck.

@Larry-b6l1e So true, you can get them close and good-looking. If you want perfect gaps, it's cut, weld, and or fill. Good point.

What back space and tire size did you use im doing a 55

Due I used tci ifs and changes the rear axle and 4 link. I had to have custom wheel offset done. Unless you did the same as mine, my offset/backspace would not work for you.

Good info ...been working all day trying to get my door lines to fit on my 59 Chevy Apache, I put new rubber door seal on then hung the door and there is good alignment at the hinge side but at the latch side its off by 1/4 inch, i moved the cab latch in 3/8 and still off, earlier this past year I had the cab off the frame and had to cut and replace the cowl drain catch at the bottom of the front fenders in front of the doors completely rusted out , would it have been possible that all the welding torqued the cab ?..Or now that im finished with all the fab work and have the cab bolted to the frame on new rubber cab mounts should I loosen the cab from the frame when hanging the doors ?....any input will be greatly appreciated.

I start the alignment from the latch (back) side of the door first. Also I leave the cab bolts some what lose. The door can move on the hinges, slide forwards and backwards that should take up that gap at the latch. This gets you close. Then I get the fender alignment to the front of the door close. At this point I compare the front gap to the back door gap. That tells me if I have to slide the door forward or back on the hinges. Based on door widths and they are not all alike on these old doors you could have nice gaps or large gaps but they should be some what equal. The latch side of the door only adjust by the hinges. The fender side of the door adjusts from the door hinges and the fender. So you have one adjustment for the latch side and 2 adjustments for the fender side of the door to get the gaps correct. Hope this helps.

@@oldmanfixingstuff3722 Thanks for replying so fast, the gaps are decent and my body lines and contours of the door are really close my major problem was that I cant get the door to shut all the way and that's using the original door latch, so I moved the striker in as far as I could and that helped but still leaves a 1/4 inch gap from closing completely, could it be that the new rubber door seal is the issue or the 60 plus year old worn out door latch ?, also do you use the original door latches or custom latches and if so what do you use, again thanks for taking the time to help me and I enjoy your videos.

@@oldmanfixingstuff3722 I should have watched that video before I replied back...it looks like I have a lot of work to do to get my door to shut correctly, the info in your video will help me to fit my old truck back together correctly, thanks again and that 55 looks awesome !
