I had a 15 year old son and a beautiful 55 Chevy Belair 2 door hardtop which I had restored. I let it slip to him that I was maybe going to give it to him as he would be getting his drivers license soon. About a month later he ask me if he was still getting the 55 because he knew a guy that was going to trade him an old Honda motorcycle for it! He didn't get my car.

Great story! Makes me happy to see history brought out to see the light of day again and be able to share it with family and friends. I have an 1948 Studebaker pickup that I got from my dad that I've had in storage for the past 17 years. I have lots of memories from when my dad had it and got to share with him when I pulled it out of the dust and mothballs last year. It's a warm feeling to see your dad's eyes light up when he talks about the past and wants to help bring the old truck back to life again. That old truck has sentimental value to me and would never be sold all because of my dad. Love You Dad!!!!

Just recently gave my 39 year old son a 72 Cutlass Supreme convertible that I've had for 25 plus years to enjoy with his wife and three kids. Nice cars that have been saved need to be enjoyed by the family. Not put away and left for years to slowly deteriorate. Now he is the caretaker of that Olds for the next 25 years or so and he can give it to one of his kids so they can enjoy. Keeping it in the family. Running, driving, having fun. I'm glad Bob is now doing just that. Thanks Jerry for that video. It made my week!

What a memory lane to go back and visit and touch a piece of your history in a time when kids could still be big dreamers and scared of the Vietnam War and being drafted! I don't blame you at all Bob for keeping the car one bit! I was born in 55 and the first time I saw a corvette was a 58 and like you her dad bought the car for her graduation! They are also mechanics! Family is well known in our little town. I've often wondered where Andrea Maddox's 58 went! The last I saw her in the car was probably 1962. A hell of a story! The year I was born. My Dad was a huge vintage car enthusiast. His most favorite was the 1958 Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon, the red and white one with the fold down seats in the back. I guess I loved it so much because there was 8 of us kids and we all had a place to set, lol. I guess someone came along that wanted it more than my Dad and for the right price, he sold it. He was trying to buy a 57 Studebaker Silver Hawk but the owners garage caught fire and it was a total loss. That was one beautiful automobile and it ran just like my Dad liked them to run. I bought Dads 57 Chevy Wagon, I just couldn't imagine anyone else driving it but a Family Member. My brother was jealous so bought and modified a 56 Wagon. Dad was a ford guy and my brother and I were Chevy guys although I did own a nice Mustang for quite a while, now I wouldn't give them a plug nickel for a new car. They just don't make 'em like they used to!
