The plug at the back of the engine behind the freeze plug needs to have an oiler hole also, it oils the distributor gear.

Yes and no the original one would have had one but there is a big crank journal slinging oil right there so it will get plenty of oil on the gear if you don't have the plug or want to drill out one. But if you have the plug with the hole use it it wont hurt

@@RustedUpGarage So I'm currently working on a 1955 automobile 324, and could you please help me find the correct connecting rod bearings, I purchased some but they seem to be too big, do you know the exact place to buy them or size of the rod bearings?
@stevemoore11482 жыл бұрын
Oil is just fine on bearings. After all that’s what they see through the life of the engine. If a guy didn’t know how to prime the engine before cranking, assembly lube would be his best friend.

Correct Steve! We will be pressure pre-oiling this engine before start-up according to PSI

Why no lube on the main bearings during assembly
@RickyRustedup2 жыл бұрын
We used lots of assembly lube on the mains its the red stuff squeezing out around the bearings. I just didn't show it, also used lots of assembly oil on the build no worries about that.

How much would I be looking at for a build just like this? I have a 55 that’s getting tired.. Do you have a contact number I can call?
@RustedUpGarage2 жыл бұрын
Well, honestly the cost varies depending on how much you get done but contact Ross Racing Engines 330.544.4466 Tony will be happy to quote you. He did all my machine work but he will do it all.
