To my knowledge fiberglass filler had to be heat baked.. did you just let the short strand filler dry by itself ? If so how long did it take to cure ? And does short strand filler shrink ? Because I have heard that..

Nope, doesn't need to be heat cured. It's harder to sand, but sets up just like any other filler. I usually only use it when removing factory lead seams, welding them back up, and want a stronger filler base over the seam. It's probably overkill, but it's a piece of mind for any future body flex.

What’s the easiest way to cut and prep the filler in the door gaps when it’s time for paint ???

Fine tooth air saw blade, cutting the gaps open by hand is my method.
