What an amazing, stunningly beautiful car. Sadly, we have been inundated with some horrible looking cars on our roads in recent years. Most designers fail miserably.

Extremely beautiful car. You can see the styling influence of the American business coupes of the 30's and 40's.

This is perhaps among the best Deutsch cars of the 1950's. Way better than the rivaling Jaguar Mark Series (which I still like) and the Yankee Cadillacs and Lincolns.
@santiagorubio8336 жыл бұрын
You have to be careful with the comparisons. Every brand of cars has its supporters. But look: The 1953 Cadillac and Lincoln, which you seem to look at less, cost a little more than half an MB 300 S. However, they were much roomier, more comfortable, better suspension. And power, acceleration and maximum speed do not talk. My father had a Cadillac Fleetwood 1952 Hydra Maticy, an uncle had precisely one MB 300 S 1953. The Cadillac defeated by far the MB in everything related to performance. (110 mph versus 95 mph). The Cadillac spent just a little more gas when its price was very cheap. I think even the appearance of the MB 300 S made it more like a Yankee car from the 1940s. Finally, remember that in the Pan-American Race, the Mercedes Benz factory had to compete with the MB 300 SL, a race car, to defeat Cadillac and Lincoln

the 1956 continental mk2 was far superior in every way in comparison to this merc. and the 1957 cadillac eldorado brougham was more advanced than any mercedes product until the 90s
@santiagorubio8335 жыл бұрын
@@chrisxaf1237 What you say is very true. Cadillac El Dorado and Lincoln Continental Mk were formidable competitors for the Mercedes Benz 300, defeating it in many aspects of great importance, and all this costing only a fraction of its price. Let's accept that appearance is a matter of taste. Let's look at the power, acceleration and top speed. In 1957, Cadillac and Lincoln had about 300 H.P .; Mercedes 300 had just 180 H.P. Cadillac and Lincoln exceeded 115 miles an hour. M.B. 300 barely 95 m.p.h. Gasoline consumption was practically the same in those three cars, at a time when oil and its derivatives were very cheap. We must remember that in the Pan American Race, in 1953, Mercedes needed to participate with the 300 SL, a race car, to defeat Lincoln and Cadillac. Regarding automatic transmissions, Cadillac and Lincoln had excellent transmissions for many years. Mercedes 300 only offered in 1957 an automatic box of American manufacture (DT Warner Gears or Hydramatic to choice, the latter was Cadillac). The Mercedes 300 is an excellent car, but you can not underestimate other cars of equivalent quality, and that were also quite cheaper

I am a little surprised that that expensive of a car would be transported "open air" vs in an enclosed auto transporter. It is a beautiful car though. The part of the video with the car driving around is just wasted time, is it supposed to be an add for the GoPro hero 3+? I would have liked a tour around the car to see the inside with the top down and some commentary/history about the car. I don't know why anyone would subscribe to this KZbin channel, it is totally lacking in content.
