I would only do weathered builds if something turned out wrong with my model, I would weather it and make it a barn find. And, I have found that I really like the old rusty car look. It's an earned thing to have rust.

Tile grout - great idea. COuld be brushed into treads as well. Problem with sanding treads is that the grroves are still shiny like new. Some dust or paint in there will look much better. Thanks for the idea! Your best rusting effort yet! Looks GREAT! or Not great as the case may be. Love the rust.

I absolutely get what you're doing. Probably the best way. Personally, I try to do a new build. Gleaming showroom. For a while. Maybe dry-brush some rust on the carriage. Then swap on the custom valve covers, dent a fender. A decent model should keep you occupied.

Amazing. Love the idea with the blankets. Something I would love to see in the future is how to tackle the dirt that accumulates from something like an endurance race. So stuff like brake dust, exhaust soot, all the rubber and marbles and smudges that build up on the front and sides of the car.
@hpiguy4 жыл бұрын
I think it would be almost identical in method, just use greys, blacks, soot colors.

Much of the chrome trim on the '57, including the grille in that gaping front maw, is actually gold, as can be seen in photos. A little dry-brushing with gold would highlight that.

Wow! Another great build! I like the blanket idea! I did something similar with a willys army jeep. It had a case of ammo in back and i covered it with a tarp in the manner you did. The duct tape is awesome! I specifically bought a 70 something monte carlo so i could do it up this way. I gotta get crackin on it. Oh yeah! You didnt use dollar store super glue! You went name brand with crazy glue! Haha! 😂 Keep on makin your videos. Out of all my subscriptions I watch your vids the most!😊

That was great to watch, best beater you have done yet. I have seen the PVA glue on fabric technique before but not tried it myself. I think you build scale models for the same reason as myself, just the enjoyment of making something your own. Its a pity kit manufacturers do not make kits of some British cars from the 70's and 80's, I remember plenty as a kid that were real rotty grotty rust boxes that would make good junker displays.
@nk53nxg4 жыл бұрын
I remember a movie from the late 90's called Joe Dirt, this looks like a Joe Dirt car. He would have a mullet, a Def Leppard shirt, acid wash jeans, dirty white sneakers and a beer belly, and not give a damn what anyone thinks.

I used to love building these big-scale kits. My favorite was a Revell Ferrari 275 GTB in 1/12 scale! The big problem was finding space in my little room for the finished models! I don't remember the whitewall inserts on the big AMT kits, but then the only one I built was the '55 T-Bird (not the '57). I wonder if the current '57 kit was a retooling of the '55? Anyway, that one ended up as a mild custom candy blue using those fat Goodyear radials included with a beautiful set of 3-piece chrome wire wheels included in the kit (2 wheel halves that were keyed to each other and finished with a chrome knockoff spinner- man that was beautiful! Thanks again!

HO scale slot-car decals provide all kinds of sponsor decals for applying directly to parts in larger kits, I.e. shocks, batteries, filters, etc. The larger the scale the.more those parts scream for added detail.

I like all your videos, but I keep looking for the rest of the Revell P-51 Mustang build-up from a few months back.... I WANT those new Revell kits and was anxious to see a regular builder's review of it... I have a friend who wired one of these 57 kits up with dash lights head lights, tail lights and the like.... he has a mind blowing BONE STOCK 57 black hardtop, he also has a very low miles 57 210 2 door sedan....those are in 1:1 scale... :D
