I'm definitely in the camp that can put up with music in the intro/outro, but not the whole vid. Glad that you cut the music for much of it! Your narration is top notch, and the engine sings.

TBH, I'd rather hear the exhaust than the music. But it's your vid. Great to see the interest in old POM bikes catching you young fullas.

Pure nostalgia! I was grinning right along with you. Noted the period correct gear - jeans, tee, boots and pre-full face helmet. More nostalgia. TBH, I owned a Triumph TR6 in 1967 - 650cc, one carb and high pipes - but left it stock so it weighed even more. Challenging in tight terrain but tremendous fun. Brakes on the left and shifter on the right. Sounds strange now, but when the world standardized the other way around it was even stranger. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

What a bloody fantastic bike !!!!......the old bikes are much better and better looking than the new bikes !!!!! Maybe not as fast , maybe they break down every two minutes ,but that's what you get with a bike that is older than your nan !!!!!!😁 Give me an old bike any day of the week . Peace out ✌

You Cannot beat the old British bikes for some good old fun, two things I would get for it, side stand and fork brace, great looking desert sled,
@wheelhousegarage
@wheelhousegarage 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I do find myself wanting for a side stand sometimes! I was hoping the fron fender struts would add enough rigidity, but it needs a little more. A brace would be a good addition and I have a couple NOS universal braces on the shelf 😁

Those were the days. I had a friend that had a 1958 650c that was a blast to ride. I loved those old scramblers. The new ones not so much. To sophisticated. A carb and magneto is all you need. Simplicity is what made them so great. The Indian Woodsman 500 single was fun also. Lots of great dirt bikes back then.

Amen to that. I started riding a friends Pacemaker Whizzer motorbike when I was 8 years old. Bought my first Harley when I was 14 back in 1955, a 42 "45" flat head. I rode an 84 Iron head Sportster for 23 years. I am now 82 years old and ride a 99 Harley Softail Custom. I had several bikes in between. Had a 68 Honda 160 scrambler for a while. But, there is nothing like the vintage Brit bikes. Light weight, super fun to ride. And simple. I live in a fairly remote area where I would have trouble finding parts. So my Harley is easy to maintain and is also very enjoyable to ride. The EVO engine is bullet proof with a few easy changes. I have 65,000 on it without out problems. It is not fuel injected. It is an improved Shovel head. Anyway. Love your videos as it brings back a lot of wonderful memories that are forever etched in my mind. With all the improvements in the new bikes, we have lost something. No one can quite put a finger on it, but us who have ridden them know what it is. It is the smile factor when you get off. Satisfaction from riding the best bikes in history. It is the man and machine thing. We prefer Radial engine airplanes to jets. Steam engines to diesels. Old school. I guess I am old school by default. LOL

The front end is washing out because of the old hard street tire on there. Lace that hub with a 21" rim, put a Goldentyre 90/100 GT 216 on it, and re arc the fender. The washing out will disappear.
@wheelhousegarage
@wheelhousegarage 2 жыл бұрын
Sound advice David! Big fan of Goldentyre 216's (and the Shinko copies) on my modern dirt bike. In the case of this old sled, I'm keeping it sketchy for the novelty of it all. Ha! Thanks for tuning in!

It would be great to see you mod the suspension to make it work better of road, maybe longer swing arm and shock, and then how to get the front to work better but still look original.
