1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham

The Cadillac Eldorado Broughams manufactured from 1957 to 1960 involved an initial meticulous task carried out in the 1970s by Cy Strickler III, the first president of the Brougham Owners' Association.
Cadillac produced more than 900 Broughams over four years; so, with one line per car, imagine the effort! The 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham model saw a production of 304 units, with only one in four painted in Maharani Maroon.
The car featured a stainless-steel roof and a light gray "Parisienne" fabric interior with gray leather trim. Assembled in the Detroit, Michigan, USA plant, Harley Earl handcrafted and designed it. It had a Series 70 sedan body with four doors and rear-hinged doors. It was equipped with a V-8 engine, 365 cubic inches (6 liters) with three two-barrel carburetors, and a four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission. The wheelbase was 3.20 meters, with a length by width of 5.50 by 2.00 meters, and a gross vehicle weight of 2,500 kg. It featured a self-adjusting air suspension and accessories such as power seats, windows, and locks, aluminum rims with whitewall tires, an electric trunk, cruise control, air conditioning, and heating, polarized visors, and a vanity kit.
The vanity items and personal accessories, which were designed to give the Brougham an edge over lesser luxury models, were packed in the trunk when the Broughams were delivered to dealers. It was the dealers' responsibility to unpack these items and place each one in its proper location within the car before delivering it to the customer. Both the front glove compartment and the rear seat armrest were equipped with appropriate sashes and pockets to hold the personal items. The various slots in the glove compartment door were covered by a secondary lid, which served as a mirror when opened halfway and as a tray to support drinking cups when fully extended. The most intricate and varied of the "personal accessories" was the vanity case, which fit into a slot on the right side of the glove compartment lid. This specialty item is believed to have been made by Evans, USA, a well-known manufacturer of fine purses and compacts since the 1920s.
