Sherman Stockton, is a great dude, and, he will make an awesome set of pickups for you. If you have a specific sound you're inquiring, certain ideas, etc etc. Sherman will make a set of pickups for you, and, you won't be disappointed. If something needs tailored etc, he'll get it right, by the time it's all said and done. And, If Greg trusts him with, Hank the Plank, you already know your guitar is in great hands... What a story! It warms my heart to know that despite getting some big money offers, he has kept the guitar. With the Hank Jr. and Ed King connection, this guitar would probably go for half of a million dollars today. It make me happy to know that loves this guitar and has kept it.

Great stuff...that guitar is slightly younger then yours truly and a whole lot better looking. I was never a Gibson guy, Strat & Tele both over 40 years old and going strong, but I'd make room for the '58. I played with a guy back in the '80s that played a cream white Les Paul and a flying V. I would play a set with that Les Paul and it felt like a bag of cement strapped to my neck...thanks brother you're appreciated.

Greg is such a nice guy. Ed and Sharon King, also are (were for Ed rip) great people, I got to visit with them dozens of times over the years when he was a guest of the Dallas guitar show. In fact during the early 90’s I graciously declined their offers to handle some legendary guitars they showed me. Out of respect and not wanting to potentially and accidentally doing something to the condition of those instruments.

This is a great story. "Hank the Plank" is a great name. I agree that good guitars "draw you in," they just sound SO glose ood, that they make you want to keep playin' them. The older ones lose some of the new guitar "smoothness" and have just a bit of what I call "grit" in the tone - and played through an older tube amp at a lower, "sweet" setting, will give a memorable tone that will stand out in a mix(or a performance). Greg is wise to hold onto this one.

I saw Greg and HeadHunters on a Walmart Parking Lot in Eureka Missouri ,with Prairie Oyster Band . For most of the HeadHunters set Greg did play a Paulie but did several numbers with a Strat . Those Marshall rang out loud and proud .Both bands just knocked it out .

I saw Sawyer Brown, The Kentucky Headhunters and Hank Jr. in Winston Salem N.C. Sawyer Brown and The Headhunters were great. Hank was so drunk it was really awful. I was a fan of all three and I'm glad I saw the show but I would have been pissed if it were just Hank alone. It was one of my first non-bluegrass live music experiences and if you were raised going to shows where every single note is perfectly in tune and played with a certain respect for the fans and then you see someone so drunk they can't see it's a bit of a shock.

Hank had a hell of a life up until that point in 1990. It was just 15 years prior that he almost died after falling 500+ ft. I'm sure it was a very long recovery from that. Multiple surgeries. At least 17 surgeries actually. Had to relearn how to talk and sing. It wasn't easy. That's for dang sure.

Gibson did a relic reissue of It, I believe Greg said they had it almost 2 years, and did a remarkable job at recreating Hank the Plank. I looked for one a few years back and found a couple ( I believe they produced 100) for around $8500/$10k U.S. 💸😮I’m sure they are worth it, my playing doesn’t qualify for an instrument of that caliber. I did find a spotless 94’ Tobacco Burst Standard for about $7,500 less, and I play my Squire Tele all the time.🙄☮️✌️
