Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in! This week it is time to get busy on the 1959 Buick LeSabre; this is a car I've wanted since I was a kid, and I cannot wait to put it together! This week we're going to try to figure out why the wheelbase is wrong on the car, and why it sits on the bump stops... Weird problems, for sure! Also: More welding on the 1960 Chevy Biscayne / Impala splice, and a new episode of "My Classic Tire"! Thanks everyone who ordered a 1937 Chevy T-shirt; they're printed now and they are on the way! Hope you enjoyed the 8mm clips! I am filming more on the 8mm camera and I'll include the footage as soon as I get it developed... Special thanks to Steve Dean and Niagara Film Labs in Toronto. Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments! Please feel free to check out our Patreon page at : www.Patreon.com/coldwarmotors where we have extra videos and pictures and a bunch of people hanging out and bs-ing about cars! Scott-You've put a bunch of work into the Biscala to make those doors shut so nicely. I would suggest that you install at least two body mounts from the floor to the frame, reasonably close to the b-pillars, so there is no chance of future flexing downward. Ken from Lititz, Pennsylvania

I think that before winter you may want to get an enclosure around the lift that can be heated when you want to use the lift because you know there will be times this winter that you are going to want to use it. If you lived closer and hadn't already rebuilt the 364 for the Buick I would have had a rebuildable 64 Buick Riviera 425 I would have given you to put in it.

Hunny Bunny on rhythm guitar is a welcome addition. I can see her watching for the chord progressions, and she's keeping up with the boys just fine. Holding up the other end of the torque tube and cleaning parts shaved hours off he Buick job. I think she needs an agent number ... she's more than just a Hunny Bunny, she's a member of the team.

Fuel pump rebuild in the morning. Thanks to all of you there to help motivate me. Frankers wore me out watching her chase that tire. Keep on keeping on. These cars deserve caretakers as you do. You made that Biscala back end splice look so damned easy (and yes I know it took hours). As you said now you have a car that is square, doors fit and everything is back where it should be. Just a great job... But yes get a boot (trunk) floor panel. Sometimes its a trade off between time and cost and that floor is pretty well shot. With the LeSabre you have two cars in build ... A welcome departure from those of us in the lower 48 from the usual spectacle of the ‘news cycle.’ As a declaration of of that misery, I pronounce 2024 as the year of the CWM hoist, without which none of the critical origins of the ‘59 Buick’s driveline’s irregularities could be identified and remedied. Superb contributions by Myles & Ash as usual.
@coldwarmotors2 ай бұрын
Agreed! Such a time saver, and Myles and Ash make things happen!
@mikemullay56222 ай бұрын
Scott, I am sure you are correct. That torque tube and rear axle assembly almost certainly came from another car and probably a car from another year. All '59 4 door hardtops have the same wheel base with the exception of the Electra 225. For example my '56 Special has a 122 inch wheel base but the Super and Roadmaster both have a 127 inch wheel base. Make sure you have a good torque ball seal behind the transmission on the new torque tube. They are notorious for leaking. Cheers.

That hoist is the great! It's already proving to be a big help. All of the future projects will be a lot easier (figuratively speaking) since you'll be able to stand up under them. I remember crawling under a few cars, and I would've enjoyed dropping starters or replacing tie rods if I could have been standing while trying to wrestle them apart. But enough about me; "Classic Tire" was its' usual brilliance, Ms. Francine ever the diva, and Hunny bunny is going to tackle the Buick's transmission. The more I hear about this lady...wow, the gears of the Universe must have been aligned perfectly for Scott to meet her. Cheers!

They're getting there, every day a little more. I'm wondering how not having the body mounts tying it to the frame is affecting the process of stability . I remember before you showed them rotted out in the rear and I'm wondering if you replaced or compensated for them or if they don't matter until you need to drive it. I'd love to get a chance to get some of your shirts reissued, I just need 4x size which I know you didn't have when you first ran them. If you want me to pre pay for the new ones no worries, I'm more than happy to. Glad it's turning out well and I know you're loving that new lift more every day!👍🎉 Love the Carson butt stamp out going into "Classic Tire" and the blazers are just next level spiffy right up there with the deluxe crown! Yeah, that's the condition you use on what the tank and car museums call a "static " display vehicle, something that's good to look at but definitely not anything you want to use to operate the vehicle ever, atleast safely! Thanks again guys and Frankers!

Scott I am really happy to see the Chevy coming along so well, it's going to be a rare piece ,not many left. The lift is proving to be a wonderful addition to the shop ,so much easier, and it really speeds up the project. If you can find the high transmission jack it will really be a nice accessory, and make it so much easier to do transmission work. I finally have all those things but I'm too old to use it. Otherwise, the bad gals wouldn't get in. Sometimes you had to dump out a few guys to make room for them,and then peel out a good used tire would be like $10 at the tire guy store ,which of course is $100 now Henry J.Kaiser also made a funny compact car,the "Henry J" The Kaiser & Frazer union in automaking is a interesting tale, A Good Show,Scott....the SOS
