1959 ford - Power steering up grade - using factory column - Edsel - low rider

Adding a power steering system to a 62-year-old classic. the goal was to keep the original column and we pulled it off

Man you don't know how much I appreciate this video. I had power steering put on my 1957 ford. A g.m gear box . I don't know why you can't get a ford built gearbox. I also gor a new column. A darn g.m column. Can't get a ford. Now I'm going to put my old column back in. The g.m works but I'm pinned to the seat with the stering wheel in my chest. Thank you so very much!!!!!

I had this done on my 59 f100.Major trouble with rerouting the horn wire that used to come out of shaft end.Any suggestions?Thanks for the vid .

It’s on Air ride .. I’d like to think it’s more of a 60s kustom .. those wheels are just rollers

Great video , Im going to do this to a 1958 Ford wagon. Do you happen to remember exactly how long the piece of the column tube was that was cut off? Also how much of the shaft was removed?

I’m doing a similar set up on a 55 Fairlane…do you happen to know the application is for the idler bearing you used to support the inner shaft?

I wish he would go look at one of the extra bearings in his tool box and give us the number/ information so we can buy the same bearing.

I ended up finding the bearing at tractor supply company. It’s a bearing for the wheel of a wheel barrow. Sounds odd but the dimensions were right on.
