Wow! I've been searching for this cartoon for years! I've kept Mr. Fuddlehead in mind to fend off the manipulative effects of advertising. Thanks for uploading! :)

It really was a pleasure to see this again. HILARIOUS at the end,as Fuddlehead's wife KICKS the TV out to sea and also the way the announcer's voice seems to gurgle as the TV sinks into the water-"And now,a word from our sponsor-are you thirsty?...." (Gurgle,as the TV sinks)-WipWip,WipWipWipWip. WIP!!! (one of the famous HILARIOUS end music punchlines at the end of funny Sesame Street segments, in the Old School era.)Thanks for posting,Vegan Pop Tarts,typical plot,or premise of these Modern Madcap cartoons- a husband and wife's domestic issues; others include Giddy Gadgets, Electronica and Talking Horse Sense. I saw all of those(and this)when I watched the Woody Woodpecker and Casper the Friendly Ghost show when I was a kid.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I really wanna see it again, but thank you for having it here so I can watch it over and over again. Man that was the funniest. My mom recorded it during "Casper The Friendly Ghost" show on YTV in about 1990 ( I was about 3-4 years old that time I guess) or so and glad she did.

Sharply-drawn, very funny cartoon, doesn't waste a moment, utilizing clever, surprise laughs. I'm sure "Modern Madcaps" have been forgotten, though I remember seeing Harveytoons, the TV package which bought them from original producer Paramount, I think, as a very young child but no recollection of specific ones. As a decades-long animation buff, and connoisseur of its history, these are like discovering a lost world!

This cartoon was kinda prophetic. Advertisers said anything to get you to buy their products (kinda like most politicians). Most consumers buy this gibberish hook, line and sinker. And not only has this propaganda hasn't changed. Thanks to the Net, the stuff has gotten worse.

Familiar lul,labye was introduced in 1958 in OWLY TO BED, and can be heard in the Snuffy Smith A HOSS CAN DREAM and in countless Popeyes (TV; he'd alrteady retired from the big screen) and Felix's show. But TV FUDDLEHEAD (which has other resuses "Seeger-Sharples" cues as I write of), DOES offer its own original score (that also got reused..)--and reu se of thewir Fleischer "hap hap happy day" t une from 1939,

From this we learn that if anything adverts have got slightly better over time.

I'd say more subliminal over time
@garethdean6382
@garethdean6382 7 жыл бұрын
Subliminal doesn't work. I think advertisers realized we don't trust them anymore so they had to cut back on the in-your-face approach. Indeed I think a lot of advertising\sponsorship now is 'just throw it out there and hope they remember.'
@VeganPopTarts

It worked with me when I was a kid in the 90s. I ate so many happy meals just for the free toys. I ate a lot of sugary cereal too. Advertising works now by having a really suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat show with commercials. Instead of ignoring the commercials, you stay put in your seat and wait for the show to resume. People's intentions are already engaged by the show, so they're more likely to watch the commercials and pay attention to them. Even if you don't pay attention to them and you're doing something else when the commercials come on, if you leave the tv on, you'll still be subliminally influenced by them. For all of this, I just don't watch tv. I just watch DVDs or stream things.
@garethdean6382
@garethdean6382 7 жыл бұрын
And that's why advertising is failing. For all that it 'works' people hate it, they try and avoid it. Kids, kids are dumb enough. You ate happy meals for the toys, not because you were advertised to. That was plain bribery. The natural state of man is to avoid adverts as distracting nonsense and it is HARD now to get people to watch. Of course, just think, if advertising is so subliminally powerful... what about the shows you watch? How many murders, fights, rapes have been seen? How much hatred and violence and 'action'? What does THAT do to a mind?
