Nehru made an interesting point of his wish to have minimum Govt interference in people lives and work! Retrospectively we can always judge people and pass the judgment but Nehru being the PM of a vast and pre-modern nation that got its freedom after centuries had mammoth task of keeping integrity of India intact besides making foundation of institutions and explaining its diverse people path ahead. Yes he made some serious mistakes including flawed secularism and too much socialism but Nehru still tried to build a modern, progressive India.
