Grew up in the Renton Highlands and every summer when we weren't actually at the lake we could hear the thunderboats all week long during qualifying. Then early on race day we rode our bikes all the way to Seward Park to stake our claim on the beach. Fondest of memories. Thanks for this post.

Grew up on Lake Washington just North of the Old floating Bridge ( I-90) . So fun to watch this every year. You could here the old piston engines for miles around the City of Seattle.

my father Norman Pletz was on the crew of MISS SEATTLE ---and I was with him in the pits, at the time, with my own Miss Seattle jacket. I was 15 years old at the time. I raced outboard hydros. It was all family fun

Hello. I was the only PIT Crew at age 4 years when my dad won the worlds record A CLASS HYDRO before the big money came in. Check out Wally Grandberg. WOW MUrray! This is 2959 GOld CUp. Wally Granberg won the worlds record, and quit. Were you at D Lake Oregon like April 20 1956 My dad won. Next day? Billie, we always called him LITTLE BILLIE, won. SOme guy signed autographs on my brothers shoulder. HMM! I WAS THERE!!!! YPU WERE THERE! cool times

I remember Bill Muncie. Wally Granberg won the worlds record for the little boat, A class Hydro Hydroplanes! Wally Granberg my father won the worlds record for a class hydro April 20, 1956. I was his pit crew! I remember Miss SPokane. What a boat!!!! I remember Miss Seatle! I was pit crew for my dad also, had to hand him the phillips screw driver! I didnt have a jacket tho. What cool memories. And Thriftway! I remember those names! And Little billie!! Tx for this share

? Does anyone remember the "La Canadian" hydro in this class at or around 1963 ? It was a smaller design and set a few records
