The narrorator says that that company started making dirt bikes when scrambles started getting popular in the early 50's. Really? Early 1950's dirt bikes? Wow! I had no idea that they had dirt bikes in the early 1950's. I thought it was a rare 1960's invention. Which brought us in the states the incredible Honda Elsinore.

British scramblers LONG predate Elsinores (my first bike was an MT 250 Elsinore). Scrambles in the US predate WWII but the British invasion was post-war. G.I.s brought back a wide variety of British machines.

Good film. Just a pity about the overdubbed 2t/4t sound.

Great Video! Would Luv to wear some Retro Gear, like that, if I hit the Tracks today! At frames 2:10 it sounds like a WWII Bombing Raid on Germany! At frames 3:28 I'm looking at some nice twin shocks already aiming towards the pre-curser "layed down" rear shock look we really started seeing around 1973! This bike actually looks like it has more rear suspension travel than my 1974 HONDA CR250 Elsinore! To these Pre-Motocross Fellows, the word Mono-Shock probably meant a Dude who was upset & surprised, at the free clinic, to discover he'd come down with Mononucleosis from kissing a Dame like the ones on their garage wall!

Standouts for me were: the kit bike. really? 3 hours to assemble? It would take me 3 weeks, lol. And that kid riding the small bike. He'd give me a go for sure! The race scene demonstrated the changes we've made over the years, especially with protective gear, but the essence remains the same -- a motorcycle + dirt = fun :-)

Must have been incredible in those days to have so many places to ride also allowing young kids to learn in open area now days everywhere is off limits and finding some open unused area for my 7 year old son to ride is really hard

***** Yeah, too many people these days complaining about other people; the hikers complain about mountain bike riders, mountain bike riders complain about dirt bike riders, and everyone complain about snowmobiles, lol. Still a lot of places to ride and have fun where I live though. Your son would have plenty of space here. Checked out your channel. Cool!

The 3 riders testing the Greeves, Arthur Browning and Bryan Wade. Was the 3rd John Pease?. I think the track was Wakes Colne. I raced in this era, Bultaco Metisse and then BSA Victor, good times.
