A chap I met whilst serving in the army was an ex fireman from Holbeck Shed (55A) at night whilst driving freight up the Settle and Carlisle they would try to hit sixty and pray for clear signals through Settle junction. The wife’s uncle was a Top Link driver in the same shed and was mainly driving the Leeds to Liverpool steam expresses. Bradford Exchange was always a long turnaround for the engine being a terminus.

Great video. Some rare shots, not least the double heading type 2s (class 26s) with the front connecting doors actually being used. Not seen that before.

I remember that rail tour with 46238 City of Carlisle on 27/9/63. Nice video memories, including Patriots on the Leeds-Morecambe trains.
