Some people say they are ugly but for me, old trucks are a thing of beauty. The "uglier" the better.

2 speed axle still working, engine sounds good.

Worked as fitter on a fleet of these in Manchester,fitted with the Eaton 2speed axle and 4speed gearbox and an Autolube we always got over 200,000 miles before any major engine problems, they were brilliant unlike the D series that followed,continual engine and gearbox problems from day one,blown engines and gearbox’s that were utter Crap for jumping out of gear which made them dangerous on long down hill run’s because the brakes weren’t that brilliant either. The company cancelled the D800s on order and purchased Seddon 13/14 fours instead with the Perkins 6-354 engines,nowhere near as good as the Trader engine for longevity but better than the D series by a country mile,at least they managed to do over 100,000 miles before engine problems occurred.

I did many miles in my fathers old Thames diesel. They are so ugly that they look cool. I've been thinking of doing a pickup project using a narrowed Thames cab on a F 350 chassis and a stepside pickup bed.
