Refreshing the fork oil with an 'Extra Heavy' alternative

SAE30 is the standard weight oil for these forks. The forks are only compression damped on the last couple of inches of travel, which just ramps up until there is compression lock that stops the fork from bottoming out. I fitted 2 way damper rods to mine and run B40 solo springs and sae 20 oil. A much better feel and no more topping out on rebound or hard acceleration.

Thanks for the information there :). For me the forks are suitable for the way I currently ride her but if I decide to upgrade things in the future, i'll definitely consider a similar set up. Thanks for sharing :)

Looks like your front tyre arrow is going the wrong direction.

Thanks for the heads up there. The Roadriders can be fitted to both the front and rear of the bike, and have an opposite direction of rotation depending on which fitment. Next to that arrow it says Rear - just hard to see in the video. Thanks for letting me know 😊

Hi Cris. I just wondering if I am also able to change the fork's oil..but trying my best . I noticed that there is friction between both sides of fork & mudguard. Mine is Golden Flash, 1951. Anyway, thank you. From , Nazeer, Malaysia

Hi Nazeer. From looking at pictures of your model online I would guess that the procedure is the same. My front forks still bottom-out and there is a small amount of friction with the mud guard as well. Not 100% sure how to avoid this to be honest. Shame when it happens though! A7 & A10 variants are 213ml.

@@CharltonsClassics Oh...still a minor friction ya...no wonder it happen to my machine...thanks Chis.

There should be no friction between the mudguard sides Nazeer ? Have You tried removing the guard ..squeezing the sides but more importantly make sure the stud holes have not been distorted by overtightening ...this could happen if the rubber packers have been omitted at some time ? The muguard should move freely through suspension movement if the above are attended ...overtightening the studs without the rubber will cause the mudguard to splay forcing the sides to touch the fork oil seal holders .

Chris is your fronttyre on the wrong way around?

Very observant of you I must say! The Avon Roadrider can be fitted to either front or rear wheel, but the tread direction is opposite for each fitment (not sure why though...).
