Those “Long-Ram” manifolds create so much torque it’s crazy… watched a guy race that setup in CA years ago in a 64 Sport Fury With the 426 Wedge I believe and he was running 10’s all day. He offered to sell me a set w/carbs for my Mopar for $150 but as a 20 year old I didn’t even have that gift price… memories… what a stunning car !

Odds are, it was Chrysler's short reach ram, which is extremely rare. This car is equipped with long reach. The difference is the long reach distance is designed to develop maximum efficiency for passing gears (1200-2500 RPM). The short reach was for pure drag applications at higher RPM (until the motor just gives up). There were only a dozen are so 300's with short reach and I believe all had 4 speeds, for obvious reason. But, those manifolds could be had, with the right connections. Most did find their way on 392's, as God intended. The boys at Chrysler developed ram induction and the hemi engines from their engineering of aircraft engines during WWII. They had a leg up on Ford and GM for most of three decades due to that experience. It's amazing what they innovated in such a short period of time. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, my Dad had a Chrysler trained mechanic on his staff at one of his shops. I drove a 66 300 coupe through high school and into college. We struck up a friendship with our shared love of the 300J and K, the last true 300 letter series, since the L was nothing but a glorified New Yorker. But, that old guy taught me so much about my 440 and torque flight transmission there was nothing I couldn't handle on that car. RIP Baldy! I miss you.

Hi Jay . I wanted to express my total enthusiasm that many of us have for this wonderful work of art . Unfortunately l felt compelled to respond to a very poor and unneccesary comment from Mr. Evan Taylor . I noticed l wasn't alone in my distaste ! It is very unfortunate that some folk seem unable to look at life in a positive manner . In these uncertain times we should all appreciate life for what it is, not always as we wish it could be . Thankyou Jay.

I'm not sure I've seen the comment you are referring to yet John. But no worries either way, we'll either brush it off or remove it if unnecessarily crude & mean.
@VoloMuseumAutoSales3 жыл бұрын
I found it & see Jay has responded himself. I recall seeing the comment earlier actually & considered removing it but decided to just ignore them. It was mostly criticism, albeit a little aggressive but they're welcome to have an opinion. I think Jay explained it best in that comment chain and we'll leave it at that. Appreciate you & everyone else sharing your differing opinion. Thanks John, always appreciated.👍

Think about it, the engineering that went into that car for 1961 is mind boggling. I’m not a Chrysler guy but this one is gorgeous.

I remember seeing this car at Volo. Super clean car that was definitely someone prized possession. Well taken care of. Very beautiful big car. When Jay said the paint is slick and is like a mirror, he’s not lying. It’s a really nice car. Volo in my opinion is the place to find unique classic cars.

Just WoW ! If I would be Jay, I would keep it by myself. This is something special. A really cool company-flagship . Here in germany you cant use it. It is simply too big. For getting a appropriate parking place you would have to push away other parking cars ^^ , which would not be any problem with this nice giant.

When that beauty came out, people must have thought it was from the future, what artwork in motion, Tim Burton should have used it as the Batmobile, and so many contemporary features, push button trans, swivel seats, luminescent dash! Unreal find, probably 4 mpg

I had a 1960 Chrysler New Yorker, 2 door. Navy blue body with a white painted top.Hada regular 413. Good shape throughout. I was new to car and didn't realize it was leaking oil. Yep, I blew the 413 and put a 383 in it.

In 1961, this car was capable of speeds over 135 MPH..... Only problem was slowing it down. These Chrysler's desperately needed Buick's aluminum drum brakes! LMAO. 61-54 were the best performance 300's ever made. America's true first muscle car going back to 1955 where it earned it's name: THE BANKER'S HOTROD!

For someone from a family doing classic car presentations since the 60's, he's a crummy example of a salesperson. Back to the camera, calling trunk rails louvers, wearing clothes that you'd do yard work in...... Yikes!
@sanfranciscobay3 жыл бұрын
Ignore the Clothing and focus on the Car. I see what he's wearing but I pay attention to the Car and what he's saying.
@jefffawcett16263 жыл бұрын
Feel better now? I guess its pretty easy throwing shade on someone from back there in the cheap seats. I'd be willing to wager that after all these years in the business he has forgotten more about classic cars than you'll ever know. This man actually works for a living running a successful collector car museum and sales shop. Instead of trying to pick on the man's outfit and whether or not he misidentifies a particular part, why not appreciate the fact you're able to view a magnificent classic automobile from the comfort of your mom's basement and lay off the feckless comments.
@hondaguy593 жыл бұрын
@@jefffawcett1626 ~ Absolutely 'Stunning' Automobile & worthy of a proper presentation. This person was 'handed' his position by virture of nepotism & it shows. Just because you won the sperm lottery and are given a career doesn't mean you have the same passion as your ancestor who started the shop & it shows in this video. I have sold thousands of cars (many classics) averaging 20 per month, so please don't assume you know me.

So how many times have you tuned in ? I've been priviledged to share Jay Grams knowledge for a couple of years and he's a man of integrity and has , as you pointed out , inherited ,not only the family business but the huge responsibilites to run that business . I'm sure that Jay would be happy to share a day with you ! Constructive criticism is always appreciated but unwelcome and malicious comments are best kept to yourself .
@hondaguy593 жыл бұрын
@@johndavey72 ~ Thank you! My first comment was constructive. The follow up reply chose to make it a personal attack. In the real world of car sales, a polished presentation is paramount to earn the customers business & generate positive reviews.
