This is like watching an old friend working on a project and telling a story. You just sit there listening and enjoying every minute of it. I really miss your show.

I don’t miss it. It got to be too silly with the fake drama between the guys and the fake timeline stress. This is so much better I think.

Now this is what the old show should have been all along. No fake drama and fake time deadlines. Just Rick showing how to restore something. Bravo! Please do more!

Selah Proverbs 11:22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion./Inspiration+Solomon compares a woman who has physical beauty but no wisdom to a gold ring stuck in a pig's nose. It is a most unfitting sight. It is an irony to see outer beauty where there is no inner beauty of soul. Far too many focus on only outward adornment but neglect to walk in the beauty of holiness with the Lord./Prayer+ Lord, let us seek after that inner beauty of holiness and not after the vanity of external beauty, which is of no spiritiual value and quickly fades away. Let our focus be on the heart and not on that which is seen by men,in the mighty name Jesus Christ Amen

Back in the 1960's my parents bought me a Schwinn bicycle from the Western Auto store in town. It was a single speed and I can't believe that I actually pedaled it uphill without stopping at eleven years old! We lived in a rural area so my friends were four miles away on back country roads. I can't believe too, that I bicycled that far back then!

Hey Chief, Schwinn bounced the serial number locations around over the years. Some early versions are on the bottom bracket, after that they moved to the left rear axle dropout and the later ones til they stopped Chicago manufacturing in 92, the number moved to the bottom of the head tube where the Schwinn tin badge was. If you wanna find out what year your Schwinn was made (strictly the cantilevered frames that used the single piece Ashtabula forged cranks) you can find the date of manufacture on the the pedal crank s but you hafta pull the cranks to see it as its in between the crank bearings.

Great video, I’m looking forward to the next part! Never thought about using hot water to loosen grips. When I did a recent restoration I got the rubber grips off by leaving the bike out in the sun for a few hours and that loosened them enough that I could twist them back and forth and squirt some WD-40 on it to slide them off.

I earned my first bike by selling newspapers, the Seattle P.I., but in Libby Montana about 1970. I was the only one in town selling them and the paper route was real small. I discovered if I went into bars I could sell them to people in there. That is where I learned to play pool. Back in that day no one cared I was only10 years old. One day I was lining up my shot and some big old hand grabbed me from behind around the neck and drug me out to the car, DAD!???? Never stopped me from going back. By the time I was 15 I was playing pool for beers. The P.I. had a program where, depending on how many papers you sold, you could earn free items. They had this beautiful bike you could earn, and you could get one of them wheel generators with it to run your headlight. Mine was totally tricked out with all the goodies. Sparkle glitter in the seat, streamers coming of the white handle grips, copper metal flake color and the headlight with the generator. I was the envy of every kid in the neighborhood and no one else could get a bike like mine because they were not for sale. I don't think it was a Schwinn. I don't know what it was, but it was not a stingray style bike. It was similar style to the one here, whatever you call those. Now I'm 64 and don't drink beer or play pool, ha ha ha ha!!!

The serial tells you year, month and day of manufacture, and that is all. No color or model. All you need is the appropriate parts and correct year frame (middleweight or baloon tire) and you can build what you want. If you want real usable info go to the cabe, classic antique bike exchange, or bike forums and don't do what this guy is. If I walked into his shop and found my crank in a vice like what he did here, I'd fire him. Immediately.
