Thanks :) Yeah, sometimes its hard to find filming motivation now a days, because after 13 years on youtube, with footage and filming going back 19 years, it does kinda feel like its all been done before.

It’s so awesome when u get to see something like this that most people think would be junk and somebody actually fixes it up and makes it functional again, great job Tom

So happy you brought up some of your videos again! All the ones with you fixing things, especially like this Bolens, it is so cool finding just how well built things used to be and then see them still work like this. Hope you are still doing well and that your garden turned out well man!

Got to love the vintage Bolens 600 my mother had one back in the day she mowed about 2 achers of lawn.

Ah, awesome man :). The steering radius is the shortest on the 600 of all the tube frames. Comes in handy.

Fantastic 600 and a great job on the deck. I would love to find a deck for our 600
@tommartyn
@tommartyn 5 жыл бұрын
I hope you can find one! You should be able to make one of the 32" decks work from almost any of the tube frame. Just check some diagrams to see if the mounting brackets work. Because the 600 has the corners of the metal plates below the foot rests, bent in at 90 degrees. And some of the decks mount to those corners.

Nice to see that old girl spittin grass! its great to have spares of everything, I got my 84 workhorse GT1100 repowered with a Honda 13HP had to come up with a PTO lever setup to engage the cutter deck belt, got rid of that hokey WH clutch system running a double sheave pulley off the crank.
@tommartyn
@tommartyn 5 жыл бұрын
Nice call on the 13hp Honda. Though I do love a good regular Briggs. So much better then the Kohler and Tecumsehs of the era. Ah, I kinda liked the interesting clutch setup for the wheel horse PTO. Reminds me of the Tube Frame bolens clutch. where the pulley driven by the engine belts, rides on roller bearings, sandwiched between two friction plates mounted on the driveshaft. Though that's nicely hidden under the tractor, not sticking out the side all big. gardentractortalk.com/forums/uploads/monthly_02_2018/post-63590-0-30871700-1519080047.jpg

Badass Tom! I’m hoping to get a snowblower and deck on my old Sears Suburban at some point. It’s been in snow plow mode for about 20 years, want to use it for more since it sucks a badass tractor.
@tommartyn

Nice! I have 2 sears plows laying around that we never had in service. Pretty interesting cantilever design for lifting. Hope you can find a snowblower and deck. Seems like a deck wouldn't be too hard a find. Did Sears/Roper ever offer any kind of differential lock?

tommartyn that gear box isn’t actually that loud! Neither are the spindles surprisingly! I can’t believe the deck isn’t in worse shape especially for its age!

My neighbors 1056 still mows! He needs a coil and a few things to get it running again but original deck and everything still works
@tommartyn
@tommartyn 3 жыл бұрын
Hey brian! Apparently there is guy down the road still mowing with a tube frame, haven't seen it myself yet, so not sure the model. I've been rototilling with my 1225 that I put a 20hp honda on, and mowing with my 1050 that i got going last year. 42"deck. I don't think 1056 is a model, the last they made in the 1050 range was a 1053 and a 1054. At least from what i remember. The 1053 i believe has a 10hp briggs, and the 1054 is the 10hp wisconsin. An nope, i was wrong, they are both the Wisconsin. But that was the end of the 1000/1050/1053/1054 line. Everything using that body and trans after then was higher hp.

Nice :). Just finished one. Haha, yeah, it may be the only footage I have of mowing with a Bolens. For many years my KZbin objective was to post things that weren't on the internet. To use the platform to do something different. But few people had cameras back then, now there is an unfathomable amount of nearly every thing possible online. So, just making videos of what I like now.

I was looking for a bolens 1050, couldnt find one close, ended up getting a wheel horse 857. 10hp tecumseh use it to mow the back yard lol
@tommartyn
@tommartyn 2 жыл бұрын
Awesome man. I love the 60's wheel horses. I guess the 8hp Kohler threw a rod on that at some point. Hahah, as they do. Probably nice to have the extra power from the Tecumseh.

were the bolens snow throwers decent? the narrow frame cub cadet ones were only single stage and would clog up all the time.
@tommartyn
@tommartyn 5 жыл бұрын
Hey man. They are single stage, so with the wrong type of snow you will get some clogs. But they definitely throw it pretty far and cut through pretty quick. I've enjoyed using them years past. And hoping there is enough this winter for some use.

Do you buy these mowers? I have one in really good condition that I just got. Original upholstery not ripped on seat. Original paint 97%.
@tommartyn
@tommartyn 5 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! I'd say my estimation of it's condition would probably be much stricter then your opinion. But I know these puppies real well. My buddy just got a 1050 over the summer, and It was by far, the absolute nicest bolens I've ever seen in person. And it was still probably 75 percent. Original un ripped seat cover as well. Padding under the cover was deteriorated of course. I don't buy them any more, because I'm poor. This one I bought probably 12 or more years ago, I think with a plow, wheel weights, and snow blower for 200.

@@michaelhowell7275 Awesome! Yeah, I'm sure I'd be impressed with it, I love these things. And it makes me really happy anytime someone gets an incredible deal like that. If yours is also a 600, you should know they have the shortest turning radius of wall the 20 years of tube frame bolens. Every single other model was longer. If you get a video posted of it, please let me know, I'd love to see it.

@@tommartyn I really would like to find more info about it. I just got it. Was gonna resell it but I think it is a 65, the year I was born so I will keep it then. I will do a video of it and inform you. Thank you for your time.

Awesome! :) That S7d 7 25hp wisconsin is a really cool engine. I am literally working on this 600 right now I just put a non smokey 7HP Briggs on it, same style engine, the bore is just a little bigger. And I'm rebuilding the carb for it right now. Just threw the engine in today, I'm excited. I have 2 800's. Been about a decade since I have one going.
