Great save ! She's gonna be gorgeous. I used to think the early 60's Exiner Mopar's were a little cartoonish but nowadays, I can't get enough of 'em. Definitely put her back in white...👍🏁

I've always loved the discrete taillight and headlight mountings on these cars, not to mention they got away from the excessive tailfins... Oh, and the rectangular steering wheel. Panalescent lighting would be the ultimate dream! It's also amazing how smoothly that door latches after all these decades - in a hard top! 👏

You are correct about the roof rusting issues on the 60 LeBarons, but not on the 61, it has the exact same roof panel as the 62 and 63. For 60, the limousine style rear window styling was achieved by welding an insert into the wrap-around window opening of the regular Imperial. But the 61 gets the new one-piece roof panel. Beautiful car.

Die-hard Mopar here. Love the '62 styling, so beautiful from every angle. Yours has pretty much every option, doesn't it? Thank you for saving it. Like you say, they didn't make many LeBarons. It's no small undertaking to restore this.

In the early 1980s I drove a friend around in my uncle's 1956 Oldsmobile 98 that had the WonderBar radio with foot switch... I had him convinced that the radio was voice-operated every time I spoke out "Change Station!" as I cycled my foot that was covering the button. LoL!

Chrysler didn't offer the Flytesweep trunk lid in 62, but 60-63 all interchange, so many owners swap them over. I had a 62 Crown many years ago.

Hey! I like your dog! Would have loved to see him! (or her). Also, what size engine is in that?
@scott6305 Жыл бұрын
LOL ! He's my mom's dog. I've got the car parked at her house until my new house is built on the local lake. He's a terrible dog though, he gets so excited he jumps on you, (all 50 pounds of him) muddy paws and all, and won't stop. Then he pee's all over your leg because he's so excited to see you !

All the Imperials had 413 big blocks with 4 barrel carb's.

I wish you all the luck in the world my friend, compared to my own automotive experiences... However, I didn't really catch what the difference is between a LeBaron and a Southampton?
@scott63052 ай бұрын
The name 'Southampton' refers to the hardtop, even the 2 door cars. Meaning no center pillar. The LeBaron was the top of the line Imperial and had the small rear window similar to a limousine.
@RonaldHuff-f6p2 ай бұрын
that trunk lid was called the flight sweep decklid, these cars are BANNED outright from demo derby, these cars were NOT in any way referred to as south hamptons, rather that was the plant where they were made, i have a two door crown from 62, in this same rough condition, it runs, lovely car
@scott63052 ай бұрын
You are incorrect. The Southampton name referred to the hardtop body style, which in '57 was all the Imperials, even the 2 doors. And, not all Imperials were banned from the Derby's, only the '64 through '67 cars were banned. They have just recently let the Imperials back in because the guy I bought it from showed me his '62 Crown that he ran in the Derby's. He won 5 consecutive races with it and was about to enter it another one.

@@scott6305 i have a LOT of parts and technical advice that i would normally sell you for that car, but since you are a know it all, get it on your own and go and find it yourself,

Wow! What did you do to THAT guy to make him such a dick?
@scott63052 ай бұрын
@@RonaldHuff-f6p I don't need your advice, nor your parts. I have already bought virtually everything I need (with the exception of the interior) to put it back on the road. Your information is sketchy at best, so I really don't want your advice either.

fwiw, the dog does like you. just give him a little pat on the nose and direct him away if you need your space using your hand on the snout. you'll have an easier time of it if you set boundaries in the way dogs understand instead of doing the usual human things. be firm, but have a kind hand.
