My father, Roger McAleer who designed the Raven (24' sloop "the first muscle car of sailboats" because it planed) also designed his custom 40' wooden sloop w/glass veneer. 30 years trouble free. Every spring traces of mildew had to be cleaned from the cabin. Besides that, no rigging, engine or electronic problems. The old boys are far more simple that today's high tech motor and sailing yachts. It's like the new cars, the more complex, the more things can break. I see it all the time on KZbin videos of expensive yachts where every time the owner shows up, there's always something to repair.

There's a fairly nice one for sale '63 for $14999 older couple getting out of the industry, doesn't have upgrade electronics but overall is such a nice boat. Wouldn't want to know how much a season slip costs at the marina though lol

It's gorgeous in all area's. For my taste I would have added a bit more warmth and hominess in the main salon. The public area's don't really differentiate themselves. Being super critical but with yachts like these you need to be. Just my opinion.

A covered Berth will pay for itself 10x, the only way to berth one of these. What's up with pop up TV's on yachts. Patronizing and embarrassing. A sad statement on those who insist on having a TV in every room. Enjoy the boat, not the television programing. I'd be embarrassed showing that off to guests.
