Safety and Certification Day for the 1962 Triumph TR4....In Ontario Canada, A car must pass a safety and certification test by a licensed Mechanic in order to be legally registered (plated) and driven on the road. Today, we found out if all our hard work over the past several months paid off....
Many Thanks to Elin Yakov of Rusty Beauties fame for taking on this project with me. We had an idea and we made it happen. Check out Elins Channel here for more project updates on the 1962 Triumph TR4 / @rustybeauties

Great videos from beginning to end, the "joint venture " of the Tush Mahal and Rusty Beauties is a winner for sure. While I understand your philosophy regarding the "as -is" finish I 'm also thinking how great the 4 would look with a shiny coat(s) of Signal Red. Hopefully we can see this (Rusty) beauty in the flesh sometime soon, maybe at BCD ?

Well done, looks great, now I think you both deserve a couple of weeks Slackalacking before the trip. Surely David is used to a non-synchro gearbox in his TR3A already ? And there are 2 TR3s still to come between the 2 garages… For the follow up final video I suggest you do a more formal comprehensive summary video where new viewers can get a complete overview of the car and project, and also those following the story through the updates can be reminded of everything that was done and why. Also it will be interesting to remember what spare parts from stock or donors were used successfully such as bumpers, exhaust, carbs etc. Also why you changed or upgraded original things that arguably were perfectly acceptable for what the car is. For me the best thing is that a car that would have waited a long time for a full proper restoration has been quickly and cleverly revived for use and enjoyment right now, and brilliantly demonstrates what is great about these cars and the people who care for them and about them. 😊 For

Thanks John…my 60 TR3A actually has a TR6 transmission in it mated to the original A Type overdrive that came in the car. The 59 I’m currently working on has the non synchro trans though, so driving the TR4 will be good practice for me. Good idea on the follow up video… I’ll try and do something like that when I do a photo shoot at my favourite location.

Really good to see it up and running, and I’m totally on board with the pragmatic approach. While I appreciate a completely rebuilt perfectly clean and shiny car, I do prefer one that’ll get some use. As demonstration of that, my Spit’s done over 600 miles in the past few weeks!

Great project! Love the car. I know you wanted to keep all the patina but I think I would have tried to touch up the front of the bonnet a little to allow the badges to really shine and I think I would have changed the top of the dash. I would love to take a guess on the cost to get the car back on the road. Whatever the cost, I am sure it is worth the expense. It is a good solid car that will last another sixty years or more.
@cheftush
@cheftush 11 ай бұрын
Thanks David…we actually went a lot farther than we anticipated on the body work. Elin wanted to leave ALL the rust and repairs visible, particularly at the rear of the car where is was quite bad. I couldn’t go that far though so we had to compromise. The dash top has been quite a discussion piece to be sure. It doesn’t really bother me. I’m happy overall with the way the car came out…it’s certainly been a different kind of project for me…go ahead and take a guess on the cost…it’s just for fun. 😉
