It is amazing how all the upgrades were integrated into a car that still looks totally stock

Wow! What an awesome sleeper! Perfect paint and interior option for this 63 ... and watching it spin under the lights, the long panels, trunk and hood appear to be as straight as a mirror. Gaps and fit are spot on. One beautifully restored 63, correct st every single point. Beautiful Volo find, and one that is going to make its new owner very happy! Well shown and presented as always. Thank you for another one!!

In 1964 my uncle took me to the drag strip. The one car that won a lot was a 1963 Impala. I was a little kid so I had no concept of a 409 dual quad because my father's Impala was a 283. So when I returned home I said, "dad, the '63 Impala won most of the races. How come your car can't do that"? He said, "because when I went to buy our car, your mother was with me." He's 88 today and barely hangin' in there.

Best wishes to your Dad's health. What did they do with the car?

@@VoloMuseumAutoSales My mom took us to pick up our dad one summer day. In her angst to gather her four children, she left the keys in the ignition. When we returned to the car, it was gone. We saw a young teen driving down the street. My dad yelled and ran after him. But he turned the corner and ran into a house. It was repaired but my dad didn't want it any longer. So he bought a '66 Buick Wildcat.

Wow! 409 Dog Dish Chevy's were already sleepers until word got out to watch out for them, oh about 6 months after they rolled out. Now you've got a sleeper of a sleeper with upgraded handling... It's like sleeper inception. A sleeper, within a sleeper within a sleeper. I dig it. And the whole while keeping its original color. Fantastic car!

A beautiful car Jay, I love the blue paint. One thing though, a 454 crank brings the engines displacement up to 471 / 482 cubic inches depending how much if any the block was over bored. I think the 409 had the largest bore of any Chevy V8.

My Grandmother had a '63 4 door Bel Air - nowhere near like this though. Had a 6 cyl engine with the old Powerglide tranny. Had to borrow it to go to work in 1974. A pickup ran a stop sign, and I T-boned him. End of the Bel Air. But I still have the Powerglide tranny in storage!

Daaang, crazy you've held onto it. 😮

@@VoloMuseumAutoSales - Yeah, we parted out the Bel Air, but for some reason, we kept that tranny. My Dad thought that we would make big money on a 38,000 mile Powerglide. I guess it's not worth the crap it's made out of - and so it still sits in my Mom's garage. Sold the 6 cyl engine and the rest of the car for $2500 (1974). Used that money to get my Grandma a NEW '74 Buick Apollo!

@VoloMuseumAutoSales3 жыл бұрын
idk? This is the first time we've had the vehicle and made a video. As we make them, they sit as Unlisted on our account, as we release 1-2/day. But that means it shouldn't be viewable on KZbin itself without the direct link to the video. Unless you see it on our direct website, on the vehicles page, where the video is embedded. But who knows, maybe something glitches because we've heard this before.

No heat or A/C? 😞 Disappointing
@jefffawcett16263 жыл бұрын
Disappointed ... really? Early 60's post cars with big blocks were often spec'd to be used as boulevard and/or drag strip racers with heater and radio delete, poverty hubcaps, etc.. A/C? Not f'ing likely. The no frills spec was aimed exclusively at reducing weight and is period correct. This is a really cool car with a few small (driveline) nods to modern tech.
