You can use mechanical oil pressure if you take out the dummy oil sender and plumb your line in there. At the thermostat housing you should have a plug you can run your temp gauge to

I don't have one on the thermostat housing. Do you know what size the hole is on the dummy sender?

@@crossthreadgarage I’m pretty sure it’s 1/2 npt. The gauge set from autozone I bought had the adapters and everything. I believe you’re right, I have 2 170s and one has a spot for a temp gauge and one don’t. Maybe you can find a cheap aftermarket thermostat housing

I think the temp sensor gauge hooks up on the back of the cylinder head, on the left corner. That's where mine is on mine.

I'm not sure, I'll put some lap belts just in case, but it should pass without them, but the sheriff's can be picky
