Hi Geoff. I got to drive a diesel variant of the same thing at the Swindle Island radio site location. It was fun to truck around on the limited amount of road. It was rough enough it kept on chewing out the rubber bushes in the spring shackles. It also cracked the frame. After we started turning the site down a temporary replacement guy came in and broke one of the drive shafts trying to turn around and get unstuck from some snow. Not a very tough vehicle. It had all aluminum body so at least that was not subject to rust. That was the best feature of it. Those were used a lot in third world countries because they were pretty light compared to some of the American FWD offroad vehicles. Ours didn't have a winch, it didn't need one in our circumstance. Thanks for the memory recaall.

Mud and RUST. I had one the same year as yours, drove it for 10 years, it always needed work. They leak oil from new. Good Luck.

Hi Geoff, Lovely Landy... Nice patina on the body, honest, each mark earned. Are you sure it's a 2a, and not a 2, that makes it even move special and older... Window whipers in windscreen frame, and not one whiper motor behind a cover in dashboard, nuts and bolts on air vent hinges, banjo steering wheel, push button starting mechanism,...maybe very last Series 2, first series 2a? Very special little truck indeed. Never seen the tail light configuration here in South Africa either.. For the rest, she's very similar to my 1960 Sii.... Did you check the Vin number ??? Enjoy enjoy enjoy

Hello, I have a 1964 and It's interesting to see the slight differences. Your indicator lights are a lot different and you have side markers where mine doesn't. I have the same heater but it only blows warm air. They told me that is normal but now I wonder if there might be something I can do to get it to work better.

Rubber floor mats covering the steel foot-well is never ever a good idea, (ok on the aluminium floor) it just harbours & hides moisture. Steel & water make rust. And you end up cutting out the foot-well and probably the bulkhead upright to. There are much better alternatives that allow the floor to breath and your wallet will thank you for it.

can you name a few please? i have just bought a series 2a 1967 landrover and the bulk head needs welding quite badly, the floor pan seems to be alright but i will defiantly give it my attention. thanks
