It looks fun. They were probably manufactured for other parks and carnivals too.

I grew up in that area! We use to go there all the time when I was small! The video was great! Rode all those rides lots and lots of times! We use to go when they had carload nights! And was more cheaper to get in! We thought it was so much fun to go at night ! Lol 😂 my parents would sit under the big covered area where the polka bands would play and they would drink pitchers of beer and dance while we ran wild thru the park on all the rides! That is something you could never do nowadays with your kids ! 😢different world back then! Thanks for the memories! 😊

Wow - your memories are great! Nighttime must have been beautiful and thrilling. I think today parks give special wristbands that match the parents so no kid can be escorted out without their parent. Maybe not everywhere but I've heard of that. I wonder if Mountain Amusement Park was in any movies or TV shows? It seemed perfect back in the days when this home movie was filmed.

Kudos to spinsandneedles for this colorful and nostalgic trip back to the early. ‘60s in western Mass. I grew up during the time depicted in the video and have fond memories of riding the Tilt ‘O Whirl and spending seemingly endless, carefree days at our local amusement park, Paragon, in Hull, MA. Noteworthy, too, is the video’s vibrant color footage. Well done!

Thank you - it's great to hear your memories. Were parks like this snowed-over in the winter? The rides look so pristine. I grew up near Playland-at-the-Beach in San Francisco and the salt air was rough on the equipment. Yes the colors in this one are great. I was fortunate to find it and scan it before the inevitable color loss.

@@spinsandneedles New England winters in the 60s could seem especially long, and snow-covered amusement parks was not an uncommon sight. The amusement park season, therefore, seemed far too brief. Looking back, perhaps this short season of fun was a good thing as we could never take trips to Paragon Park for granted.

So, so many fond childhood memories of time spent at Mountain Park. I will forever mourn its loss and not being able to visit one last time before it closed.

The scariest ride was the wooden roller coaster. Trying to guess when it was going to fall apart or derail. And Ames free entry/ride day was always fun...if you liked crowds. LOL

I bet. The sounds and movements on an old wooden coaster packed with riders is really different from the steel ones. Glad to hear they had a free entry/ride day.

Thank you for your comment. I hope if she is in this video you have seen the other films I uploaded from Penfield, NY; Norwich, NY; and Honeoye Lake, NY. I don't know if you are referring to one of the three sisters but I would sure love to hear more about the family. Everyone has their troubles but the girls and their parents appeared to be nice. I think they had a lake house but I don't know the name of the lake if you could fill that in. There are other relatives in the lake films.

I still thank KZbin's free music library. Amusement parks are not a category so we just try to find selections that are better than others.
