The ‘ 63 Studebaker Avanti was indeed one of the most beautiful cars ever built in America. What a fabulous classic you had in inventory a couple years ago. Would have loved to make that car mine!

Best part of vid was there were 2 Avantis on the floor. Now to statistics. The Avanti with R2 engine was capable of 158 MPH from factory with 3:31 axle-- or 20 MPH faster than ANY Vette 63-4-5. The Avanti with R3 engine was capable of 178.5 MPH or... 40 MPH FASTER than same vettes. It was not until 1985 or almost 25 years later that any factory Vette could reach those speeds And in straight line peformance the R3 did low 13s at 107 mph quarter mile while the 327 fuel injected Vette did 94 mph in mid 14s and the 396 half year did 102 mph at 14 flat. Avanti faster than ALL vetts those years.

Thanks for views: being some 15-16 years old in 1962, close to S BEND, ,& a car Nut: this was a big Deal & us & Studebaker… …….. UNFORTUNATELY, I never made the Commitments to buy an Avanti…..etc.
