I believe Bill Grundy was the person that first introduced the Beatles on TV. He should be remembered for this, fast forward to December 1st 1976 and this is what Bill Grundy is remembered for 😂

It was great interview with high level of honest statements. The Beatles were a combinations of right people at the right time such as lottery numbers jackpot.

God Bless Brian Epstein. I don't think it would have happened without you.

I thank Brian Epstein for bringing the world The Beatles. The justification of 25% of The Beatles on the basis of flights and phone calls seems quite comical looking back at it. It is shame Brian did not live to get the full benefit of his genius as an empresario. He must have been fairly astonished himself at the scale of the success.

When you think how callous, blinkered and stubborn John, Paul and George were when it came to booking agents Brian was wise to ensure he was covered in the contract. Those three thought they were owed the world and lies and theft from their agents who ran their bookings before Brain seemed to be part of that entitlement.

An interview that touches on rudeness. Grundy very much of that mid century type of journalist who thought investigating something had to mean treating it like a scientific formula, logical deduction to find the truth, etc. But that is based on another feature of journalists: cynicism. Right to be canny about smoothy-chops presentation but digging around to see if he was a fly-by-night money grabber seems here unwarranted. Anyway, Epstein handled himself quite well. He said, as he touches on here, he did not enjoy school and contemporaneous comments from his school masters looking back in 1964 when he was mildly famous implied he was no bright spark. But one said he was "shrewd". He was. That [shrewdness] is worth it's weight in gold when young.

I'd love to know who the 'we' is that Brian organised them with, the whole organic 'just a bunch of lads in a dingy club' narrative is just horseshit, they had A LOT of help and guiding hands, maybe one day eh?
