Here is how I remember the tach's. It was standard on all 4 speeds with 300 or more horsepower. It was an option on the 250 horse motor cars with a 4 speed. IIRC, you could order it on a power glide car at extra cost as well.

Awesome 64 SS. A buddy bought a 64 Impala SS with this same 327 and 4 spd. in around 1968. No great speed demonstration, but loads of fun to cruise in. Here's a car that will no doubt, we'll cared for and maintained, appreciate in value. Love this color! Another friend ordered one new this color (327 with 3 spd. column shift) ... These cars were great at giving many years of dependable service. Love seeing these original cars kept this nicely! Kudos to both of the previous owners for loving this car as they obviously did. To add a note, watching her spin under the lights, I had never noticed until now how much the 64 Impala resembles the styling of her sister Pontiac.

For some reason, and I can’t put my finger on it, the rear of the body, behind the tires, looks different, like something is missing from the body.

Had a black 63 SS 327 300HP wide ratio Borg Warner T 10 4 speed with a 355 posi. Ran really good. No, it wasn't going to beat a big block Chevelle or GTO but it was not a sled or slow by any means. Got a rush every time that Carter AFB was wide open throttle and slamming through the gears chirping the tires on every shift.
